It has been a busy start back after half term with trips to Rosemoor for several classes. Last night some of our Year 6 children took part in the Rotary Quiz and we were very proud of their performance. Team A (consisting of Millie, Tom, Caitlin and Pip) won so go through to the finals on Thursday 15th March at the Octagon Theatre, Okehampton College. All parents are welcome to go and support our Team. Congratu‐lations also to Team B (consisting of Charlotte, David, Kiara, Daisy) who performed very well. Thank you also to the children who helped with the refreshments and did a brilliant job. They were Holly, Izzy, Char‐lotte and Emily. GOVERNORS Thank you to Tamsin Carter who has agreed to be a Parent Governor. ASSESSMENT DATES Would parents/carers please note the following dates: Years 6 Sats—Week beginning 14th May Assessment week for Years 3, 4 and 5—28th—31st May Week beginning 18th June—new Year 1 Phonics test will be carried out during this week. MISSING WATCH One of our pupils has lost a watch. It is analogue with a black strap. Can you please check your child’s bag in case this has inadvertently been brought home by mistake. Thank you. SAFER INTERNET Don’t forget we have two sessions available for you to attend. Tuesday 5.30 p.m. Thursday 9.00 a.m. Hopefully all parents/carers will be able to attend one of these very important sessions.
OLD POTS AND PANS Just a reminder if you have any old pots and pans, Miss Tucker would love to have them for the woodland area. They are to make a ‘musical tree’!
WOODCHIP If anyone has any woodchip they could let us have for the Woodland area, please let us know. OLC PRIMARY OLYMIC WEEK 2nd—6th July The OLC are looking for any adults who are Musicians, Magicians, Sports Coaches, Face Painters, Story‐tellers, Fantastic Instructors, Artists, Aerobic Leaders, Stilt Walkers or anything or body that will add to the week they are planning. If you can help please speak to Mr Pearson. WALKING BUS—CLAREMONT Following the success of the walking bus from Moorview, we would like to investigate the possibility of starting a walking bus from Claremont. Okehampton Library will be hosting a whole week of activities to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 1st March.
On the day itself staff will be dressing up as characters from the popular children’s book ‘Where’s Wally’ and children will be able to join in a quiz to hunt for Wally characters around the library.
On Saturday 3rd March from 9.30 until 12.00, with support from their Friends Group the library will be holding a coffee morning and mega book sale where people can grab themselves a bargain.
On the same morning from 10.30 - 12.30 celebrate World Book Day in the style of Roald Dahl - invent a new flavour chocolate bar - design a sweet/chocolate bar wrapper - enter the World Book Day competition to design a bookmark. An exciting opportunity for parents to work alongside their children and have fun in the library and take part in a variety of activities to celebrate read-ing. book your place through Okehampton Library 01837 52805
