I am very delighted that German Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) is organizing the first ever German Engineering & Motor Show from 26th to 28th January 2017. This show is truly one of its kind in Pakistan.

Automotive, machinery and engineering industries are the cogs and wheel of Pakistan's economy.

About 80% to 85% goods are transported by road across the country.

Central Asian States, SAARC countries, and China are working on an infrastructural project to link the countries by road for business and energy exchange, starting by 2018 with Tajikistan.

In 2015, country’s industrial and services sectors were 21% and 58% of the GDP respectively.

The textile, pharmaceutical, packaging and plastic industries along with the engineering related industries are important importers of German machinery.

The New Auto-policy 2016-21 recently announced by the Government of Pakistan, facilitates the imports and the implantation of European automotive plants in the country.The policy aims to raise the contribution of automotive sector to the GDP from 2.3% to 3.8% and manufacturing from 22% to 30%. It also envisions direct and indirect employment rising to 4 million from 2.4 million.
