Conference Programme Recap
We look back on a very successful EMART Energy 2016. Over 650 delegates visited the two day conference programme in Amsterdam which consisted of a Power track, a Gas track and a Market Supervision track in which more than 70 high level speakers shed their light on the developments in the Energy trading business.
One of this year’s highlights was the opening Keynote, which focused on the massive changes in the energy sector. Also the role of renewables was highlighted. “Renewables are mainstream and will be the most efficient energy source in Europe in 10 years”, keynote panelist, Walter Boltz said.
For the first time ever at EMART Energy, the event was visited by a delegation of Large Energy Consumers. In collaboration with Royal VEMW, the event hosted an exclusive meeting of minds to discuss how large energy consumers can benefit from developments in the wholesale energy markets. This partnership has come to exist through the energy transition which is driving generation, trading and consumption to new levels of interaction.
Taking place at the heart of the Trading Floor, freely accessible to all participants, the Hub programme also contained a few of the event’s highlights. The first European energy trade over the blockchain took place at the Hub theatre. The trade was be done by Yuso and Priogen Trading – a unique moment featuring one of the new technologies arising from innovation in trading. The Hub theatre also hosted the closing discussion where representatives of Open Utility, Sonnen, Powerpeers, POW and Statkraft discussed the future of energy trading, the changing role of the energy trader and the question: Who is the Airbnb® in Energy trading?
EMART Energy 2017 will again be held in Amsterdam, where it is co-locating with Europe’s leading Smart Energy event: the European Utility Week.
Kind Regards,
Patrick Bauduin

Frank SteinerMarketing ManagerDataGenic Ltd
“EMART Energy 2016 has been a great event for DataGenic. It allowed us to connect with key players in the European Energy market and get a better understanding of the commodity data management challenges they are facing. We look forward to EMART Energy 2017 which promises to be even bigger and better.”
Martijn van GemertSenior Economist Market DesignVattenfall
“EMART is one of the only events that bring together different perspectives from different players. In one coffee break you speak to a lot of people and that creates ideas for when you come back to the office.”
Peter StylesMember of the BoardEFET
“This is one of the best EMART’s I can remember. It’s not killing 2 birds with one stone, but it’s killing 300 birds with one stone all at the same time.”
