LITURGY OF THE DAY As we continue our fifty-day Easter celebration today, the notion of journey comes to us in todays Gospel as we encounter the disciples journeying on the road to Emmaus, away from Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified. What journey are you on? Are you traveling toward Christ or in another direction? In what ways might you recognize Christ in your life as you go along? Let us pray today for the grace to know Christ when we meet him on our journeys.

    ON THE ROAD

One central metaphor em-ployed to describe the Christian life is a journey. In todays second reading, Peter addresses the early Christian community: Conduct yourselves with reverence during the time of your sojourning (1 Peter 1:17). When we

think of a journey, we normally think of some kind of movement from point A to point B. The Christian journey, begun in the waters of baptism (point A) has as its ultimate destination eternal life with God in heaven (point B). Unfortunately we find ourselves on all kinds of detours along the way. Because of sin, we make foolish turns and sometimes seem unable to detect the presence of the Lord. Todays story of the two disciples on their way to Emmaus illustrates for us the fact that, even when we are dejected or on one of our many detours, the Lord is there, walking right beside us. THE BUTTERFLY The butterfly has often been depicted in Christian art as a symbol of Resurrection. In its earlier stages of development, the butterfly is an earthbound caterpillar that crawls

along the ground. Then it enters its cocoon as into a tomb. After a death like sleep, it emerges in a new and beautiful form. No longer bound to the earth, it freely soars where it wills.

Fakt zmartwychwstania Chrystusa (cz.II) Chrystofanie Jezusa Chodzi tu o ukazywanie si Chrystusa po Jego zmartwychwstaniu, tzw. chrystofanie (fanei, po grecku znaczy ukazywanie si, a e dotyczy Chrystusa, std nazwa chrystofanie) w cigu 40 nastpnych dni. Chrystus zmartwychwstay ukazywa si niewiastom, Apostoom, ponad 500 mom, o ktrych wspomina w. Pawe w swoich listach. Pierwsi chrzecijanie, a pamitajmy, e wszyscy oni byli ydami, zerwali z tradycj szabatu i zastpili go pierwszym dniem tygodnia, czyli niedziel.
