4-Her and Volunteer of the Month
4-Her of the Month
Beth Bohringer - Boscobel Big Green Clovers I have been a member of the Boscobel Big Green Clovers 4-H club for the past 8 years. I am currently the secretary of my local club and the treasurer of the Out-of-State Exchange group. I enjoy 4-H because it allows you to meet new people and it offers many unique opportunities. In the past years, I have participated in two Out-of-State Exchanges. I travelled to Maryland in the last exchange. We recently hosted a group of students from New York, and I will be travelling there next summer to complete our exchange. I have also been to Space Camp in Alabama twice, and was selected to be a camp counselor on my second trip. My favorite 4-H projects are cooking and photography because I find them enjoyable. I have learned many valuable skills in these projects that I will be able to use throughout my life.
4-H has helped me to grow as a person and has helped me to develop many leadership skills.
4-H Volunteer of the Month
Joe Vande Hey - Boscobel Big Green Clovers I have been volunteering in 4-H for 12 years. I started volunteering because my children were involved in 4-H and I wanted to help out. Early on I was helping a lot with the dog project. The older kids were very active in the dog project so it sort of became a family thing to help out. Eventually we became more involved in poultry and that is where I spend my time now, along with various club activities. My favorite part about 4-H is watching the kids work on their projects, especially the animal projects. Getting an animal to cooperate and work with you is a great learning opportunity for what life is like. I think 4-H is a great opportunity for kids to develop life skills. Making decisions together in club meetings, learning to be leaders, volunteering in the community, managing a project, learning to care for animals, being creative and just spending time together as a family.
Show your 4-H pride with one of these yard signs! The cost is only $5.00 per sign and includes the metal holder. Stop by the UW-Extension Office to get your 4-H Grows Here yard sign!

All Livestock Auction consignors must be available to have pictures of livestock taken on Saturday, August 19. Any exhibitor needing an alternate time must discuss this with the superintendent at check-in. The exhibitor must be in the picture. If an exhibitor fails to have their picture taken with their animal, an additional 2% per year for each year the picture is missed will be added to their commission taken from the exhibitors check. Following is a list of when pictures will be taken.
7:30-8:20 am Swine at Swine Barn
8:30-9:00 am Small Animals at Livestock Pavilion
9:00-11:00 am Beef, Dairy, Goats and Sheep at Livestock Pavilion
Help Needed!
The Grant County Livestock Trust food stand located in the Livestock Building is in need of workers throughout the Grant County Fair. Adults and kids 12 years and older are asked to volunteer just 2 hours any day of the fair. The proceeds have purchased such items as a defibrillator machine, added wash racks, bleachers, light fixtures, poultry and rabbit cages, tables for the Youth & Ag Building, a scale for the goat, sheep and swine projects and the open show barn. This is a very worthwhile cause as all fair-goers benefit. Please call Jill Jentz at
608-642-0621 to volunteer your services or go to https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/
showSignUp/4090c4faaad29a3f49-grant to sign up for a time slot. Thank you to all of you who have helped in the past. We truly appreciate all the help.
