METHODS OF MEDICAL MANAGEMENT

Page 14: 5 m’s of management

COMMAND AND CONTROL METHOD

Page 15: 5 m’s of management

The Command and Control form of management is based on military management.

Primarily, the idea is that people do what you tell or direct them to do.

For instance, management in a medical field is directed by few managers such as; Practice Manager, Deputy Practice Manager and Reception Manager to the co-workers.

Page 16: 5 m’s of management

DISADVANTAGES OF COMMAND AND CONTROL METHOD

Page 17: 5 m’s of management

First of all, nobody actually like to be commanded and controlled.

Management literally does not have enough time to micromanage at this level, because there simply aren’t enough managers.

The third drawback is that in a medical organisations, the individual contributors such as the doctors, nurses, and medical officers and etc always have more information than the “leaders,” so they are really in the best position to make decisions.

Page 18: 5 m’s of management

IDENTITY METHOD

Page 19: 5 m’s of management

The goal here is to manage by making people identify with the goals you’re trying to achieve.

For instance, a medical body or organization tries to achieve a certain target level, thus the service must be targetted to the certain level.

A lot trickier than other methods, it requires some serious interpersonal skills. But if you do it right, it works better than any other method.

Page 20: 5 m’s of management

In general, Identity Management requires you to create a cohesive, jelled team that feels like a family, so that people have a sense of loyalty and commitment to their coworkers.

In a medical organization such as a hospital, the crews must have a strong identity in each one of them to create a steadfast commitment towards each other.

The second part, though, is to give people the information they need to steer the organization in the right direction.

MONEY

Page 22: 5 m’s of management

Meaning

A medium that can be exchanged for goods and services and is used as a measure of their values on the

market

Page 23: 5 m’s of management

Without money, no venture or enterprise can motivate workers,

get quality and sufficient materials, get the right machines and

maintain them or even ensure that time is properly managed.   Where

there is not enough money, no good workers, materials, or

machines can be employed or purchased.
