Hello, Cabrini Friends and Family!

My name is Roxanne De La Torre, and I

am incredibly excited about beginning my first year serving as a CMC Missioner at

Cabrini College in Radnor, PA! I am 24-

years-old, and a proud

Filipino-American born

and raised in Queens,New York. My first

interaction with Mother

Cabrini and her sisters

was when I took a field

trip with my high schoolto visit the Shrine of

Mother Cabrini in

Washington Heights, NY.

Back then I had no idea that I would become part of such an

amazing legacy, but I can honestly say that it has been anabsolute privilege learning more about our foundress and the

tradition of love and service that she has left behind in the

MSCs and their lay counterparts.

Over the past six years, I

have been at Fordham University, first as an undergraduate majoring in Theology and Communications & Media Studies, then as a graduate student

and graduate assistant working with Campus Ministry. This past May 2011, Iobtained my Masters degree in Religion and Religion Education with a

concentration in Youth & Young Adult Ministry. The past 6 years have been

incredibly formative for me as I was blessed with several great mentors andopportunities at Fordham, all of which provided me with the support and

confidence I needed to pursue a future in youth ministry.

As this next period in my life begins, I

am both nervous and excited for the

growth and challenges that I know will be coming my way. But I am

confident that with the support of my new Cabrini family and the

continued encouragement of my family and friends back home, that this

year of service will be an incredible opportunity to grow in my own self-awareness, to work with some truly wonderful young people, and to

continue to flourish in my spiritual life through a deeper understanding of

God’s immense love for us. So, in closing, thank YOU for your constant

love and support! Please continue to pray for me and my fellow CMCs, and

please be assured of my continued prayers for all of you.

Hello! My name is Gina Allen of Astoria,

New York and I am very much looking forward to being a part of the Cabrinifamily!

I went to St. Anthony's High School inSouth Huntington, Long Island, and thento Loyola University Maryland, inBaltimore. At Loyola I studied Theology and Psychology and was immersed in the

Jesuit tradition, which I have come to value deeply as it has helped me more andmore to find God in all things. I like to draw,journal, spend time outdoors, cook for my friends and family, and I love traveling andexperiencing new cultures.

Mother Cabrini’s love and devotion toGod and to her mission has inspired meto join your community and yourmission. It is my hope that this year I

will be able to serve alongside you,learning from you and sharing with you,so that I may grow in love of God andlove of neighbor.

Katherine FrazierFrom: Forth Wayne, Indiana

Serving: Cabrini College, Radnor, PA

My name is Katherine R. Frazier. I’m from near Fort Wayne,Indiana, where I live in the countryside surrounded by thecornfields and soybean fields that you probably associate withthe Midwest in general. I did my bachelor’s degree at SaintMary’s College, Notre Dame, where I designed my own majorin Medieval Studies, and I did my MPhil at the University of Cambridge in England where I studied archaeology.

After I graduated from Cambridge, I was uncertain about whatto do next, although I felt that I should do some service work, a

feeling I later recognized as the disponibilità from MotherCabrini’s story. I applied for many different positions, but

nothing ever felt right until I applied for Cabrini MissionCorps. I appliedbecause I wantto give my talents andenergy tocommunitiesthat have foundand supportedme, which is why I am so excited

to be placed atCabrini College.

I’m not entirely sure what I’ll learn from this year, although Iam certain that I’ll come out with precisely the skills andlessons that I’ll need in the future, since that is what hasalways happened when I reflect on my past experiences. I do

hope that this will be an

opportunity to learn how to better express my faith and to do

so with confidence, and, even more, I hope thatI’ll have the opportunity to enrich the lives of thestudents at Cabrini College through prayerservices and by getting them to think about how they can incorporate the mission of the college,the education of the heart, into their lives afterthey graduate. I know that I’ll spend a great dealof time during my year trying to incorporate thatmission into my own life as well.

Hello Cabrini family! Wow – time flies! For the 2011-2012 year, I will be in my 3rd year serving as a CMC missioner. In my first year as a CMC missioner in

2009-2010, I served as a Health Teacher and Campus Minister at Mother CabriniHigh School in New York City. Since then, I was missioned to serve at the SaveOur School Children Foundation, Inc. (SOSCFI) in Baguio City, Philippines, andmade my way here in August 2010. Having served in Baguio City for almost a fullyear now, I am looking forward to continuing my mission with the many familiesand communities we serve throughSOSCFI.

At SOSCFI, I directly serve inall aspects of the PastoralMinistry program with Sr. Terezinha Lumiberi, MSC,ranging from teaching catechism to leading BibleStudy classes, to training lectors and training a choir for various masses and liturgiesthroughout the year. Morespecifically, I teach catechismevery week to our 150 children

who are a part of SOSCFI, and Ialso accompany and lead a group of aspiring altar servers through their training. With the parents of SOSCFI, Ihelp lead Bible Study to three groups of parents (located in their towns), and also assist Sr. Terezinha withpreparing catechism lessons during monthly parent meetings. Every Thursday, bright and early at 7am, Sr. Terezinha and I venture off to Yagyagan Elementary School, a rural school located outside of Baguio City, where

we also teach catechism and specifically, I am helping to prepare the 4th

graders to receive their sacraments.

When Sr. Terezinha and I are not traveling from one place to another, we spend our time planning futureprograms, evaluating past programs, and brainstorming new and creative ways to be most effective in connecting with our families at SOSCFI through Pastoral Ministry. In addition, every week, I spend time with the CICL

(Children in Conflict with the Law) at the Baguio City Jail, where Iaccompany social workers in leading programs, seminars, and alsoprayers, that assist in the well being and health of the CICL whilethey are there.

In this 2011-2012 year as a missioner at SOSCFI in Baguio City,Philippines, I hope to continue our initiatives in developing bold,faithful, courageous leaders in the towns in which we serve. While

the communities we journey with are aware that the “missioner”stay is temporary, and not permanent, it is important for me thatupon every meeting with them, in this upcoming year, that I willbe able to support them and help empower them to bestrengthened leaders among themselves and also, to serve oneanother.

Because I have already witnessed such tremendous growth in the participation at our Bible Studies in this past yearof formation, I am only more excited to see what God has in store for our communities in this next year. My hopeis to continue trusting in God with what He has in store for me next, and to savor every moment that I have beengifted with, as I have been called to serve in this beautiful place, Baguio City, Philippines.
