BCICAI is organising its 8th Annual Interna-tional Conference on 2nd and 3rd Decem-ber 2016 on the theme “Challenges Create Opportunities” at, Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Bahrain. Mr. Jamal holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the Cairo University (1977) and is also a Certified Public Accountant – USA. Mr. Jamal is currently the Managing Partner of KPMG Bahrain & Qatar, a Member of the KPMG Middle East and South Asia Board, as well as a Member of the KPMG Europe, Africa and Middle East Council and a Member of the KPMG International Council.Mr. Jamal is a Founding Board member for the Pearl Initiative – the leading independent, not-for-profit, by-business for-business, institution in the Gulf Region, which aims to influence and improve corporate accountability and transparency.Mr. Jamal is also Founder of the Jassim Fakhro fund, which supports young Bahrai-nis to achieve professional qualifications.

Mr. Hassan Jarrar was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Islamic Bank in July, 2015. Mr. Hassan has over 28 years of banking experience, 19 of which have been in the Middle East. Prior to joining Bahrain Islamic Bank, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank, Bahrain since October 2011. Mr. Hassan’s previous appointments in the region include Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate and SME Banking at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Head of Corporate Banking, Abu Dhabi at Mashreq bank.Before returning to the Middle East, Mr. Hassan has spent 20 years in the United States where he began his career and held key management positions with Securi-ty Pacific Bank and Bank of America. Mr. Hassan serves on the Boards of the Bahrain Association of Banks, Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) and Tamkeen.

Dr. Anil K. Khandelwal is a former Chairman and Managing Director ofBank of Baroda and Dena Bank and currently a member of Banks Board Bureau.Dr. Anil received the prestigious Life Time Achievement award, by the Asian Banker Singapore, the only Indian banker to receive this so far.Dr. Anil has been rated among the 100 most powerful CEOs for three consecutive years (2005–08).Dr. Anil has been a UNDP Consultant to Banking Reforms Commission, Govern-ment of Tanzania and a Visiting Professor to Asian Institute of Management, Manila. Dr. Jarmo Kotilaine joined the Bahrain Economic DevelopmentBoard as Chief Economist and Executive Director of Strategy andPlanning in September 2012. Dr. Jarmo previously served as Chief Economist of the National Commercial Bank (NCB) since 2010, preceded by two years as Chief Economist of NCB Capital, the investment arm of the NCB Group. Dr. Jarmo studied economics and economic history at Oxford, Cambridge, and Harvard. He subsequently joined the faculty at Harvard where his primary research focus was the long-term economic and institutional development of Eurasia as well as on international trade and finance. Dr. Jarmo worked for a number of years as an economic and financial consultant with a primary focus on emerging markets. Mr. Narayana Peesapaty is the founder and Managing Director of Bakey’s Edible Cutlery trying to end the “Plastic Invasion” and save the environment. Mr. Peesapaty has over 20 years of work experience, 12 years in the field of consulting, 4 years in research and since 2007 in the business of developing edible cutlery.Mr. Peesapaty has also invented a low cost sanitary napkin manufacturing machine, which is targeted for the low income habitations (rural and slums) to improve the menstrual hygiene.Mr. Peesapaty’s international travel includes visit to Washington DC to work on an ESMAP publication of the World Bank and Dhaka to present a Lead Paper on “Exploring Energy-Water Nexus for better energy and agricultural productivity and sustainable groundwater management” under USAID led South Asia Regional Initiative (SARI) – Energy.

CA Reddy has been elected as the President of the ICAI for the year 2016-2017 by the 23rd Council of the Institute on 12th February 2016. CA Reddy is widely commended and credited for his prominent and distinguished contribution in the conceptualization and formulation of a futuristic CA Curriculum during his tenure as the Chairman of ICAI Board of Studies in 2014-2015. Mr. Farhan Syed

Mr. Farhan is a Partner with KPMG Lower Gulf and leads the Digital Transforma-tion practice. Mr. Farhan is a thought leader in Digital Transformation and has written multiple industry perspectives and has been a keynote speaker at a number of events. CA Nilesh Shivji Vikamsey is elected as the Vice Presidentof the ICAI by the 23rd Council of the Institute on February 12, 2016 for the term 2016-17. CA Nilesh has been elected to the Central Council for three consecutive terms(2010-13, 2013-16, 2016-19). CA Nilesh has also effectively served the cause of the accountancy profession as a member of 27 ICAI committees during his tenure as Council Member so far. CA Amarjit is a senior partner of GSA & Associates Chartered Accountants, New Delhi.CA Amarjit was the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India during 2010-11 and Vice-president the year before. CA Amarjit has recently been reappointed as the Chairman of National Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards by the Central Government for the third successive year.Among others, CA Amarjit was a member of Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority by Central Govt. of India, member of the standing committee of Accounting Issues in Insurance Companies by IRDA, member of the IFAC Com-mittee of Professional Accountancy Organisation Development for a period of three years (2010-13) and was the Vice Chairman of the committee for the year 2013, Technical Advisor in the International Audit and Assurance Standards Board of IFAC during 2009-10 and chaired several important committees that dealt with auditing and accounting standards, corporate governance and banking at the national level and international level. CA Amarjit is a senior partner of GSA & Associates Chartered Accountants, New Delhi.CA Amarjit was the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India during 2010-11 and Vice-president the year before. CA Amarjit has recently been reappointed as the Chairman of National Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards by the Central Government for the third successive year.Among others, CA Amarjit was a member of Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority by Central Govt. of India, member of the standing committee of Accounting Issues in Insurance Companies by IRDA, member of the IFAC Com-mittee of Professional Accountancy Organisation Development for a period of three years (2010-13) and was the Vice Chairman of the committee for the year 2013, Technical Advisor in the International Audit and Assurance Standards Board of IFAC during 2009-10 and chaired several important committees that dealt with auditing and accounting standards, corporate governance and banking at the national level and international level. CA Amarjit was nominated as independent director to Bank of Baroda (2006-09) and Indian Bank (2011-14), member of the Securities & Exchange Board Commit-tee on Disclosures and Accounting Standards, Board Member of the Insurance Regulatory Authority of India and member Audit Committee of the Reserve Bank of India. CA Amarjit was the Chairman of Accounting Standards Board and Auditing and Assurance Standards Board of ICAI for two years each.

CA Amarjit was responsible for introducing IFRS Certificate Course in India and Middle East. He has been a part of IFRS training programmes in Nepaland Myanmmar and Bhutan. CA Amarjit was responsible for introducing IFRS Certificate Course in India and Middle has been conferred honorary membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and honorary Life membership of the Association of Inter-national Accountants London.A prolific speaker, CA Amarjit has delivered more than 2500 lectures on various topics.
