    GEORGEORWELL- BIOGRAPHY

    Eric Arthur Blair(25 June

    1903 21 January 1950),better known by his pen nameGeorge Orwell, was an Englishauthor. His work is marked by aprofound consciousness ofsocial injustice, an intenseopposition to totalitarianism,and a passion for clarity inlanguage.

    Considered perhaps the 20thcentury's best chronicler ofEnglish culture, he wrote works

    in many different genresincluding novels, essays,polemic journalism, and poetry.His most famous works are thesatirical novelAnimal Farm(1945) and the dystopian novelNineteen Eighty-Four(1949).
