Its primary thrust is the promotion of destinations through various tourism activities and events that draw travelers in search of culture, adventure and relaxation to the North.
We almost didn’t want to feature the raw, pristine rivers and beaches this province keeps. We almost kept it to ourselves and just let you, our readers, eventually find out about it somewhere else. But you see, traveling is about sharing. The happiness we feel during our travels only becomes real when it is shared. And so in this issue, we share to
you the Pangasinan we have come to know. Secret beaches, hidden caves and watertfalls, kilometers after kilometers of pristine rivers. All these make Pangasinan an eco-tourism destination.

Daing, or dried fish, took the spotlight in this year’s La Union Grand Electric Float Parade held last February 26, 2015.
Featuring its main product, the daing, adorned with glimmering lights, Santo Tomas’ electric float bagged major awards including Overall Best Float, Most Indigenous Float, and Best Lighting Design.
Santo Tomas also won in the Native Costume Competition for Mutia ti La Union 2015 as their muse, Angelica Maranan, strutted with such ease and glamour in her daing-embellished costume. She also received the Most Indigenous Costume award.
Now on its 9th year, the Electric Parade was one of the highlights of the province’s 165th Foundation Anniversary celebration. The La Union Grand Electric Float Parade was introduced in 2004 as part of the annual celebration of the province’s foundation. While
showcasing the uniqueness of each municipality by highlighting its products, the colorful parade also serves as a symbolic inspiration to shine as a province. The lighted floats represent the renewed exuberance of the people ofLa Union.NB

NLEX Lakbay Norte is a media familiarization tour program of the North Philippines Visitors Bureau that has been running for four years now. True to its thrust of promoting Northern Luzon as an adventure playground easily reachable by land, the NPVB designed this program in a way that the media will have an unforgettable experience and get them familiarized with the adventure destinations up North, which they can share to their readers.
This year the NPVB brought the media groups to Central Luzon, focusing on destinations such as Tarlac, Subic, Zambales, Clark and Pampanga. Surfing, wakeboarding, riding an ATV, kayaking and karting are just some of the activities the media experienced in this 4-day journey. New NLEX-MacArthurHighway Link
An increasing number of motorists are now using Segment 9 of the NLEX Harbor Link road project, which is already operating in full swing following its soft opening on March 19.
Segment 9 is a new 2.42-kilometer tollway that links NLEX from the Smart Connect Interchange to MacArthur Highway in Karuhatan, Valenzuela City. It is the first component of NLEX Harbor Link Project, the ambitious road expansion project of the Manila North Tollways Corporation (MNTC), builder and concessionaire of NLEX, that aims to bring the expressway more accessible to motorists.
“Traffic volume has steadily risen from about 1,000 to 7,000
vehicles a day as more and more motorists discover the convenience and shorter travel times this new segment makes possible,” Rodrigo E. Franco, MNTC president and CEO, said.
Built at a cost of P1.59 billion, Segment 9 provides motorists on NLEX with a more direct route to the Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas-Valenzuela (CAMANAVA) district as well as the Port Area where Manila’s premier harbors are located.
“Vehicles going to CAMANAVA via NLEX can now take the west-bound ramp of the Smart Connect Interchange, proceed through Segment 9 and take MacArthur Highway instead of exiting at the Valenzuela Interchange and passing through the congested Maysan
Road,” Franco pointed out. “Vehicles going to the Port Area can take the same route and pass by Monumento in Caloocan instead of exiting at Balintawak and going through traffic-heavy EDSA.”
Meanwhile, an increasing number of motorists have also been using the Segment 9-Smart Connect Interchange link as a traffic-free “short cut” from Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City to Karuhatan, Valenzuela and vice versa.
MNTC is projecting traffic volume to reach 27,000 vehicles daily during the new tollway’s initial year.
Segment 9 is expected to greatly facilitate the movement of people and goods
between Central and North Luzon and Metro Manila, particularly the CAMANAVA district as well as the Port Area.
“By linking NLEX and MacArthur Highway, we foresee increased economic activities in these areas since it will improve transport logistics through the more efficient movement of trucks,” Franco said.
The economic benefits Segment 9 will bring are expected to increase further when Segment 10 of the NLEX Harbor Link is finished in late 2016. Segments 9 and 10 will be linked via the NLEX Karuhatan Valenzuela Interchange. Stretching 5.65 kilometers long, Segment 10 will largely be an elevated expressway, directly connecting NLEX and MacArthur Highway to Manila’s Port Area. Segment 10 will primarily cater to port traffic and is envisioned to significantly speed up and reduce the cost of the transport of goods from Central and Northern Luzon to the country’s premier ports.
“When Segments 9 and 10 become operational, the country’s port congestion problem will be a thing of the past,” Franco noted.
Motorists using Segment 9 pay upon entry the same toll fees as those currently collected in the existing NLEX Open System. Toll fees are P45 for Class 1 vehicles (cars, jeepneys,
sport utility vehicles and motorcycles). P113 for Class 2 vehicles (buses, light trucks and cars and jeeps with trailers or carry high loads on their roofs), and P136 for Class 3 vehicles (vehicles with more than two axles and are higher than seven feet).NB

Harvest Hotel’s grand opening was held last May 20, 2015. The affair started early at 8:00 a.m. with the blessing of the entire hotel building facilities including staff houses and the newly operational laundry area owned by the hotel.
The blessing was officiated by three priests and attended mostly by the family of the owners, the HII (Hospitality Innovators Inc.) Management higher-ups, Harvest Hotel employees and friends.
The ribbon cutting follows at 3:30 p.m. with special guests DOT Region 3 Director Ronnie Tiotuico, N. E. Provincial Tourism Officer Ms. Carol De Guzman, Atty. JV Bautista,Engr. Manuel and Angie Ilagan (owners of Kingston Tower
Corp.), Ms. Atchoo Ilagan (President of Kingston Tower Corp.), and HII Management group headed by Mr. Luis “Spanky” Monserrat. The affair overflowed with sumptuous food and cocktails were served. It was well attended by more than 200 guests mostly from the corporate groups and members of the business community in the city. Adding glitters to the event is the
