• 1.3 KEY CONCERN : In third stage one key concern was finallyselected i.e. Vikram & Magic and Student Community andthey were clubbed together to form a single issue.

OVERVIEW OF DEHRADUN

VISION 2025: “A well-managed clean, green, environmentally friendly city with a character of its own defined by scenic beauty, intellectual capital and eco-friendly city through sustained economic growth for all its citizens”.

• The city development plan was taken by government of Uttarakhand with finical aid from Jawaharlal Nehru Urban

Renewal Mission (JNURM) .

• This mission allocated the amount of ₹ 3666.90 cores under two phases from 2006 -2025.

• Due to existence of forests, hills, undulating and dissected terrain the expansion of the city in north and east areas no

space is left.

• So, the city is expanding toward towards Haridwar Road, Saharanpur Road and Chakrata Road, this project is called as

“Greater Doon”.

• Under these scheme team already developed developed 28 acres of land for Transport Nagar on Saharanpur road.

• As a part of development they established and proposed for Earth Station, IT park, Industrial areas.

• The team As a part of development under Traffic & Transportation control they are construction flyovers, widening the

existing roads.

• Literacy rate of the city is 96.7% wherein 90.3% are males and 81.1% are females.

• The city roads are of 453km of which 363 km are maintained by Municipal Corporation and 130 km are maintained by

PWD.

• Out of total vehicular population Sharanpur road, Rajpur road, Gandhi road and Chakrata road sum up to 40% of the

total vehicular population.

• In the city most pedestrian flow is in clock tower, railway station, paltan bazaar, Connaught place .

• The city public transport consists of mini buses, tempos and vikrams(3 Wheeler Auto).

• This will operate in the intra city for short distances by fixed routes and fixed fares.

• There are 1600 vikrams and 141 city buses operate around the city on 10 routes.

Assumption 1: 70% of the population would be travelling by city transport.

Assumption 2: Because of IT and Industrial investments outstated educated professionals would come to the city.

Assumption 3: The geography of the old city doesn't permit large public vehicles therefore private public transport

would ply on the streets.

• A woman travelling in the vehicle is given a microchip kind of a homing device

• This device could be customised and integrated into any of the daily accessories

• If the woman is harassed in the vehicle there’s an SOS system embedded into the chip that could be activated

• There is also a gps based alarm present in the auto which could be activated

• When the SOS is activated it sends a message to the parents as well as the police control room

• The control room then instructs the officer on field of the location of the woman

• Police personnel are deployed to the place based on communication through walkie talkies

• They reach the place and take the necessary action
