a message from the membership committee chairman

Notes of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics A MESSAGE FROM THE MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN It is my pleasure to present the new members of our Society; they number 77. There were 74 members dropped from our rolls producing a net gain of 3 members for a total membership of 2,149. Admittedly, this represents little growth from the 1,985 members of 1990; steady new membership is being offset by the attrition of those we dropped or who resigned and the inevitable deaths. While this latter trend will likely continue, our challenge is to increase recruitment efforts. The Society continues its healthy mix with 21% women, which is similar to the past four years. Non-physician new members was 47% and similar to previous years. Over the past 2 years your Membership Committee and the Board of Directors introduced a methodology for nominating new members. Some of you have responded and I’m sure others will in the future as we try to streamline these efforts. Forty percent of the new members were nominated. I am impressed at the quality of our new members, many of which have already demonstrated consider- able productivity in our discipline and will no doubt help create and establish our future. Besides the quality, we continue as a balanced Society represent- ing our many faces. It has been a pleasure to serve as your membership chairman which is completed this year. Dr. Judith Jones will be the new chairperson and I’m certain she will do an excellent job. Thomas L. Notes of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics A MESSAGE FROM THE MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN

It is my pleasure to present the new members of our Society; they number 77.

Some of you have

responded and I’m sure others will in the future as we try to streamline these efforts.

Thomas L. Whitsett, MD Chairman, Membership Committee
