DebaMng

Premiers  Deba*ng  Challenge.

On  Tuesday,  Jamberoo  hosted  a  deba*ng  day.  Sam  Aubin,  Thomas  North,  Annie  Schweitzer  and  Sarah  Collins  represented  us  capably,

baKling  their  wits  in  what  was  a  very  intellectually  *ring  day!  They  debated  that  'Australia  should  not  ban  circus  animals'  to  claim  victory  against  Albion  Park  PS.    They  argued  that  'All  primary  students  should  do  deba*ng'  unsuccessfully  against  Shell  Cove  (What

happened  to  my  brainwashing,  team?).  Their  final  round  saw  them  claiming  that  'Contact  sports  should  be  banned  in  Australia'  winning  against  Lakelands.  They  now  play  off  against  either  Shell  Cove  or  Albion  Park  next  Thursday  to  determine  the  zone  winner  in

what  is  currently  a  three  way  *e.

Congratula*ons  to  the  Jamberoo  deba*ng  team  for  all  of  their  hard  work.  Thanks  to  the  development  squad  who  so  confidently  took  on  the  roles  of  chairperson  and  *mekeeping  on  the  day,  and  the  Drualla  and  Birrahlee  audience  members  who  watched  the  debates

so  aKen*vely.  Best  of  luck  on  Thursday,  debaters,  and  may  the  giT  of  the  gab  be  with  you.

Garden  Club  NewsIf  you  have  no6ced  that  some  of  the  Garden  Club’s  tools  have  seen  beQer  days,  then  you  will  be  delighted  with  this  news.  The  Garden  Club  was  given  a  wonderful  treasure  this  week,  thanks  to  the  amazingly  resourceful  Jamberoo  P&C  and  generosity  of  United  Building  Products  Mitre  10  at  Albion  Park  Rail.  Our  package  contained,  as  you  can  see  in  the  wonderful  photo  on  the  right:

• 3  new  watering  cans• 2  hand  forks/hoes• 1  hand  trowel• 8  new  pairs  of  gloves• 1  pair  of  hedge  shears• 4  new  pairs  of  secateurs

School  gardens  are  important  spaces.  A  recent  study  conducted  by  the  UOW  evaluated  the  Stepha  nie  Alexander  Program.  Students  involved  in  the  program  showed  significant  improvement  in  behaviour  as  reported  by  teachers  and  parents.  Not  only  that,  par6cipants  also  chose  to  eat  more  fruit  and  vegetables.  That‘  s  good  news  for  the  whole  school  community!  You  can  read  more  about  it  at:  hQp://ahsri.uow.edu.au/content/groups/public/@web/@chsd/documents/doc/uow145163.pdf

Thanks  again  to  Don  at  Mitre  10  Albion  Park  Rail  for  organising  this  much  needed  bundle  of  supplies  and  to  Naomi  Poole  for  organising  it.

The  Garden  Club  relies  on  wonderful  volunteers,  so  please  come  along  any  Tuesday  at  lunch6me.

Music  StarsA  leQer  has  been  sent  home  this  week  regarding  Guitar  and  Keyboard  tui6on  through  the  company  ‘Music  Stars’  for  Term  3.  Please  return  registra6on  forms  by  the  end  of  this  term  if  interested.

Dance  FesMvalDance  Fes6val  was  a  preQy  busy  week.  The  first  day  for  year  3  and  4  was  Thursday.  Our  performance  was  the  Colour  Of  Friendship.  The  whole  story  was  about  birds  of  all  colours  not  liking  each  other  except  for  the  weavers.  Then  the  black  birds  come  and  scare  everybody  into  the  weaver  bird’s  nest  and  become  friends  and  celebrate.  We  had  shiny  costumes  with  feathers  all  over  them.  Each  bird’s  group  had  there  own  colour.  There  were  Blue  birds  who  discoed,  Red  birds  who  rock  and  rolled,  Yellow  who  did  the  salsa  and  the  weaver  birds  did  Irish  dancing.By  Saffron  and  Erin

Last  night  I  went  to  Dance  Fes6val.  It  took  for  ages.  The  dance  was  about  a  girl  who  has  a  bad  dream  and  her  Mum  Nina  knows  how  to  make  a  dream  catcher  so  she  makes  the  dream  catcher  and  puts  it  over  my  bed,  then  she  has  a  good  dream.  Nina  puts  Ella-‐Mae  to  bed  and  she  has  bad  nightmares  about  monsters.  All  the  monsters  are  all  the  boys  in  year  one  and  two.  Then  Nina  the  Mum  comes  and  gets  me  and  she  makes  a  dream  catcher.  Then  Nina  puts  me  back  on  my  bed  and  Ella-‐Mae  has  a  good  dream  about  buQerflies.  Ella-‐Mae  is    yellow,  Clare  is  blue,  Ella  is  pink  and  Pippi  is  purple.By  Ella-‐Mae  North

On  Tuesday  night  Stage  One  went  to  the  Wollongong  IPAC.  All  the  boys  were  monsters.  Nina  was  the  Mum.  Ella-‐Mae  was  a  person  and  a  buQerfly.  The  rest  of  us  were  Indians  and  buQerflies.  We  were  the  eleventh  group  to  dance,  aLer  Kiama.  The  buQerflies  were  all  different  colours.  LAura  was  green,  Hannah  was  orange,  Ella  was  pink,  Ella-‐Mae  was  yellow,  Pippi  was  purple  and  I  was  blue.  It  was  so  much  FUN11  I  really  want  to  do  it  again  soon.By  Clare
