AAA ePortfolio projects: past, current and future

• Goals: Identify
o Integration process of the ePortfolio in the University of Geneva
o Pedagogical, technical and institutional needs to integrate in the short-, medium-, and long-terms an ePortfolio system into Swiss institutions

• Solution: Interviewo Questions: institutional policy, "preferred" usages, technical infrastructure,
teaching aids to teachers, needs.
o Profiles of the participants: E-Learning coordinator, university teachers, instructional designers, secondary school teachers, e-learning researchers, etc.
o Institutions: Universities (Geneva, Zurich, Fribourg, Lausanne), EPFL, Universities of Teacher Education (Vaud, St Gallen, Zurich, Brig), Continuing Education (Geneva), University Hospital (Geneva).

• Results
o Institutional policy: under implementation. o “Prefered” usages: collect productions, reflect, present, Personal
Development Planning (PDP), support formal training - « Learning to Learn ». o Contents: learning productions, reports of professional experiences, skills
acquired by students (soft and hard skills).
o Systems: Mahara, LMS modules (ILIAS, OLAT, Chamilo, etc.).

• Results
o Pedagogic needs: providing documents (best practices, scenarios, etc.) workshops, and training for teachers and learners.
o Technical needs: adaptat Mahara for a better pedagogical usage (templates, students monitoring, competency management), ensure the interoperability and the sustainability of the contents.

• To insure a good integration of the ePorfolio, we need to:
o adapt the ePortfolio to the real needs of the teachers and
students
o coach its usage
o ensure the interoperability and the sustainability of its contents

• Next AAA project
o adapt the ePortfolio to the real needs – Import/export modules for Chamilo and Moodle– Mechanism for creating templates – Students monitoring and tutoring module– Competency management module
o Coach its usage– Create best practice guidelines– Organize workshops, and training focusing on the didactic use– Support the teachers
o Ensure the interoperability and the sustainability

• Collaborations:
o With SIG-ePortfolio members.
o With institutions interested to integrate e-portolios.
