AANIIIH NAKODA COLLEGE
NURSE ASSISTANT
AND COMPETENCY
EVALUATION TRAINING
The goal of the CNA training course is
to prepare students to provide high
quality assistive care that respects and
honors individual, cultural and
community needs. The course will
provide clinical and practical
instruction for basic nursing skills
required of nursing assistants employed
in skilled nursing facilities and extended
care facilities. Emphasis will be placed
on the care of older and disabled
individuals, as well as assistance with
activities of daily living such as bathing,
dressing, exercise movement, eating,
and elimination. Students completing
the course will be required to
demonstrate proficiency in achieving a
series of identified student learning
outcomes.
Aaniiih Nakoda College schedules Nurse
Assistant and Competency Evaluation
Training Program classes at least two
times a year. Interested students can
inquire and pick up an application from
the college registrar, Tribal Health or
Returning Buffalo Nursing Office.
CLASSES
Classes will be held in Returning
Buffalo on the Aaniiih Nakoda
Campus with clinicals at Sweet Long
Term Care Center in Chinook.
Classes will begin promptly at 8:00
AM and conclude at 5:00 PM.
Students will have a 45 minute lunch
period with 15 minute breaks in the
morning and afternoon. The state
requires 75 hours of classroom and
clinical instruction and students
admitted to the class must agree to
attend every day. If you miss one
day, you will be asked to leave the
class.
ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY IF
YOU ARE ACCEPTED. Registration
is required so contact the Registrar’s
office and pick up an application
today. It is first come first served.
PREVIOUSLY CERTIFIED
If you were previously a certified nursing
assistant and your certification lapsed, you can
challenge the exam for as little as $97.00. The
only catch is — if you fail the exam, you will need
to retake the 75 hour training to be eligible to
retest. You will need to complete a registration
form which can be picked up at Returning
Buffalo Nursing Office. You can also register on
line with a credit card at: [email protected].
