About AmeriCorps • About AmeriCorps
– Celebrating 20 years of service, AmeriCorps is akin to the "domestic Peace Corps" where thousands of Americans, both young and old, are making a difference in the community through service in exchange for assistance financing their higher education or repaying student loans. AmeriCorps is an opportunity to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of those around you. It’s a chance to apply your skills and ideals toward helping others and meeting critical needs in the community.
• AmeriCorps State and National – The largest of AmeriCorps programs, AmeriCorps State and National provides funds to local
and national organizations and agencies committed to using national service to address critical community needs in education, public safety, health and the environment.
• Corporation for National and Community Service – AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, an
independent federal agency whose mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering. In addition to AmeriCorps, the Corporation administers Senior Corps and Learn and Serve America. Together these programs engage more than two million Americans of all ages and backgrounds in service each year.
