ABSAs MissionABSAs new undertaken mission consists of the following:

Preserve the teachings of Islam as portrayed by the Holy

Household of the Prophet (PBUH).

Act as a spokesperson for all members ensuring their voicesare heard by their university, student representatives, and thecommunity.

Provide students with religious, social and individual servicesto facilitate integration on campus.

Promote the true image of Islam to Muslim and non-Muslimstudents alike by clearing ambiguities and misconceptions.

Build bridges to enhance dialogue and collaborationbetween faiths and denominations.

Mediate relations between university students and theircommunity through social representation and volunteersprograms.

The Positions

Our executive team is composed of:

TreasurerPublic Relations OfficerAn important part of ABSAs organizational structure is

our committed trustee group. The trustees are a groupof previous executives who can provide expertise,advice, and a helping hand with any issue that mayarise during the school year.

The President

Calls for and directs the executive committee andgeneral meetings

Primary contact with SFUO and representative of theclub

Oversee the executive committee performance

Coordinate activities of all executives Sign and Approve all documents and reports (of

treasurer and secretary)

Presents an annual report on ABSA activities to thegeneral assembly and trustees

Vice President

Replaces the president in case of his/herabsence

Secondary officer responsible for bookings andreservations of rooms and tables

Assist the president in his/her dutiesResponsible for coordinating events and

assigning tasks to members and volunteers

during events

The Secretary

Responsible for informing members aboutmeetings

Primary officer responsible for managing theABSA member database and registration forms

Responsible for taking and keeping minutes forall meetings and keeping files/reports in order

Sign all ABSA letters, as a secondary person afterthe president

The Treasurer

Oversees all financial transactions of ABSAResponsible for ABSAs budget and

bookkeeping

Responsible for all financial matters andapplying for SFUO subsidies

Keep record of all assets of ABSA and presentthem when asked

Signs all financial reports

Public Relations

Communicates between ABSA and allother organizations (on and off campus)

Responsible for all matters related to themedia (advertising and promoting)

Forwards concerns and comments to theABSA executive committee

Promote the teachings of Ahlul Bayt (AS).Give back to your community and university.Network and get involved with external

organizations such as Canadian Blood Services.

Looks great on a resume and in schoolapplications for post-grad!

Preparations

Elections are held every April for the coming schoolyear

Before the new executive team officially occupiestheir roles, they will:

Have a sit down with the previous executives aswell as the trustees to discuss administrativedetails, major events, and other importantinformation.

Be an essential part of the summer events so as toprepare them to take charge come September

Be provided with necessary materials including ayearly plan, budget templates, etc
