about usAbsolute Adventure was established in Dubai in 2005 to meet the growing demand for professionally run local and international adventures. The company expanded into Oman during 2006. Absolute Adventure has established numerous new trekking, mountain biking and climbing routes in the remote Musandam region. Absolute Adventure Education was formed in 2009 to offer schools and colleges professionally designed outdoor education programmes run by qualified wilderness educators.

A huge range of settings for the study of biology, geography, environmental science and environmental systems and societies unrivalled in the UAE, can be found in Dibba, Oman and the surrounding area. We have a unique opportunity to compare different environments in a very short time: coastal mangroves, deserts, mountains, date plantations and wadis are in walking distance of each other.

about usThe Governorate of Musandam, in the far north of the Sultanate, is a rugged, mountainous region, formed during the Cretaceous and Miocene ages, 1850 million years ago. The mountains originally constituted part of the Zagros Mountain range, but with earthquakes and volcanic activity, separated to form the Hajar Mountain range. The passage between the Zagros and Hajar ranges is called the Strait of Hormuz and is of vital importance to Oman, as 90% of all the Gulf's oil trade passes through this area.Dibba, in the southeast of the Governorate, is characterised by its vast fjords in which fishing boats take refuge during storms. Fishing and agriculture provide the townspeople with occupations, but other industries include ironmongery, weaving and shipbuilding.

Our programmes strive to maintain an engaging balance between time in the classroom and time in the field. We use our indoor classroom time to make sure everyone understands the learning techniques, the equipment we use, and safety measures for outdoor exploration and then students will be given work sheets daily to complete in the field for taking measurements and collecting data.

All of our staff have Advanced Wilderness First Aid certifications or higher and have detailed local knowledge. Active involvement is encouraged from the school teacher chaperones in contributing to teaching, supervising and assisting the students, or allocating students and staff to the most appropriate small working groups.

All programmes include accommodation and full board; groups can stay at a range of centres in the UAE and Oman including The four star Golden Tulip Hotel, our adventure camps and our bases in Umm Al Quwain and Kalba. Safety is the first and foremost priority with all Absolute Adventure experiences. All locations and activities are thoroughly risk assessed with staff being fully trained in incident and emergency management. Staff undergo annual health and safety training including emergency scenarios. We also act as the local mountain rescue service in Dibba and have been called out to conduct technical rescues from high mountain areas. Our comprehensive SOPs and Risk Management Plan meet the highest international standards. We employ a full time Risk Manager, trained by the National Outdoor Leadership School of USA, to constantly monitor and improve our internal risk procedures. Absolute Adventure follows standards set forth by governing bodies in the United States and United Kingdom such as the Wilderness Risk Management Conference and the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority. We have been independently audited by an approved AALA safety assessor, passing with flying colours.

We carry millions of dirhams of public liability insurance covering all our activities. Our vehicles and boats are fully insured to carry passengers in both UAE and Omani territory.

Our catering team provides healthy, student friendly, hygienically prepared meals, including packed lunches. All food is prepared in our on-site kitchens by our own staff. Camp food is plentiful and served buffet-style. Menus are changed daily. Special dietary requirements can be catered for with prior notice. Water, juice and snacks are available throughout the day.
