    What is included in the CDL training program?

    Both the 5-hour and 15-hour courses include training in:

    • Pre-trip

    • Backing

    • Driving

    • Simulator training

    Preparation for testing and hands-on inspection on the truck are also included. M State can assist with testing appointments and will allow use of its state vehicle for testing.

    Program and course outcomes

    • Understand brake system operations and inspections

    • Perform a pre-trip inspection

    • Learn trailer specifications

    • Learn coupling and uncoupling safety

    • Understand shifting theory

    • Learn driving techniques

    • Learn how to pack tractor-trailers

    • Learn how to parallel park tractor-trailers

    Ready to get started?

    • Be at least 18 years old for intrastate driving

    • Be at least 21 years old for interstate driving

    • Complete CDL course registration form including payment

    • Register in Clearinghouse• Provide a copy of your

    CDL permit• Provide a copy of your

    DOT health card• Complete state vehicle

    usage form and receive approval to drive a state-owned vehicle
