ACN RTHigh performance industrial controller

ACN RT is a multifunction controller designed for centralized applications where high processing performance and multiple field buses are required. ACN RT is used for process controls, connectivity, fast machine controls and for advanced controls like fuzzy and multivariable controls.

InterfacesThe interfaces available in ACN RT are:

Three Ethernet ports in a standard configuration

• Redundant Metso DNA Ethernet networkACN RT has two 10/100Base-T Ethernet ports used for redundant Metso DNA Ethernet network. Metso DNA Ethernet network is based on switched Ethernet technology. Ring topology is recommended, star topology is also possible. ACN RT has one Ethernet interface active at a time. In case of failure, the reserve Ethernet inter-face immediately comes online. On the Ethernet network level, the changeover to the reserve switch takes 30 ms with the recom-mended ring topology and 1...2 seconds with the star topology.

• Interface with Metso DNA I/O field busesBy default, there is one 10/100Base-T port avail-able for Metso DNA I/O field buses. The inter-face to ACN I/O uses an Ethernet field bus and interface to rack I/O uses Ethernet to field bus converter unit (EFC).Three PCI slots can be used for additional Metso DNA  I/O field bus interfaces.

• High Speed Ethernet (HSE) Foundation Fieldbus interfaceHigh Speed Ethernet uses standard 10/100Base-T Ethernet port to High Speed Ethernet Linking Device(s) which have up to four H1 buses connected per Linking Device.

Three PCI card slots

Three PCI slots can be used for additional Metso DNA  I/O interfaces or for field bus interfaces like PROFIBUS DP and Foundation Fieldbus. ACN RT can have different I/O and field bus interfaces combined in the same node.

• PROFIBUS DP interfacePCI card slots are used for PROFIBUS DP inter-faces. DP card is either single or double-channel.

Serial interfaces

ACN RT has two RS-232 ports available by default. PCI slots can be used for additional serial interfaces. The serial interface card is either an 8-channel RS-232 or a double-channel isolated RS-485/RS-422. Multiple serial interface protocols are supported.

ACN cabinetACN RT is mounted on a standard 19” rack in ACN cabinet. Totally eight ACN RT units can be installed in a cabinet. The dimensions of the cabinet are: height 2000, width 900, and depth 600 mm.The cabinets consist of two parts: a 600 mm section for equipment and a 300 mm cable riser. The equip-ment section has place for eight ACN RT nodes. The upper part of the cabinet contains two Ethernet switches that take care of traffic between the ACN nodes and traffic between different ACN cabinets.The power supply of the cabinet consists of three AC/DC supplies connected to parallel. These power supplies are fed by two AC lines.

Function block diagram

EngineeringThe ACN RT controller’s engineering library provides function blocks for controls at all levels, including basic process control, advanced quality, drives, and optimization controls. Fuzzy, MPC, and Java function blocks are available as standard.The Metso DNA Function Block CAD tool (FbCAD) is used for designing function block diagrams for process control loops, sequences, and interface applications.Function block diagrams are saved in a common database located on the Engineering Server. At the same time, a function block diagram is a graphical document of an application, which is loaded in the runtime environment. This ensures that the docu-mentation is always up-to-date.
