There is a linear logic from the title,

to the problem, to the conceptual framework, to the research framework, to the findings, to the conclusion and to the recommendations

What is APP?

The Action Plan and Project (APP) is an empowering response to the call for public managers with a bias for people empowerment and the need to contribute to the fund of knowledge …is key to the MPM program's philosophy …

Page 5: Action Plan and Project (APP) Gloria Jumamil – Mercado PhD., MNSA

What is APP?Through the APP the student is

expected to apply or challenge the theoretical and pragmatic foundations by the MPM coursework through:

- specific strategic planning and project implementation drawing out the missionary zeal of public managers as constructive forces for development

Page 6: Action Plan and Project (APP) Gloria Jumamil – Mercado PhD., MNSA

What is APP?Through the APP the student is

expected to apply or challenge the theoretical and pragmatic foundations by the MPM coursework through:

- As an action learning project it must be pro-poor, developmental, high-impact, time bound, managed by student

Page 7: Action Plan and Project (APP) Gloria Jumamil – Mercado PhD., MNSA

What is APP? Through the APP the student is

expected to apply or challenge the theoretical and pragmatic foundations by the MPM coursework through:

- As scholarly report, it must be written in scholarly style, empirical, logical and systematic

- As a thesis equivalent, it must be analytical-applied-action research

APP?

The APP as an integrating course is an Action Learning Project. The APP responds to a Health System Development (HSD)project in a manner acceptable to both a community of practitioners and a community of scholars.

Round 3

Consolidated data based on the document analysis are presented for discussions on common grounds as to the relational pattern of the Philippines and Taiwan and long lists of options.

Determine the most preferred option and nature of the retrofitting strategy to build the mix of the policy and program package for model building to reinvent the RP-Taiwan relations.

Coming from the information surfaced in Round 1, an analysis of the Philippines-Taiwan relational pattern vis a vis the One China Policy will be discussed and agree on common implications and 5 short lists of options.

Basic Principles There is a linear logic from the Title to the

recommendation Be passionate with your topic to make it

worth pursuing (read: sleepless nights) Limit research areas of your paper to at least

three questions (or die hard) Your review of literatures and books will

lead you to your conceptual framework (conceptual framework) – it’s the story of your paper

Research Design/Method should lead you to your Analytical Framework

Footnotes or endnote!!! … citation please!!!

Page 34: Action Plan and Project (APP) Gloria Jumamil – Mercado PhD., MNSA

Considerations and Questions

Why the project is needed and how will it be of benefit? What specific action steps will I take to accomplish the objective(s)?

Who else will I need to get engaged because they have a role to play in my project’s success?

What timeline will I hold myself accountable to complete this project?

Page 35: Action Plan and Project (APP) Gloria Jumamil – Mercado PhD., MNSA

Considerations and Questions

What obstacles do I anticipate in achieving success for each step and how will I overcome them? Repeatedly review these guiding words to assist you to develop your action plan: What will I do, where will I take these actions, how will I do it, by what date, and why I am taking this action? WHO-, WHAT- WHERE-, HOW- WHY …?

Page 36: Action Plan and Project (APP) Gloria Jumamil – Mercado PhD., MNSA

Considerations and Questions

What will be done if a budget is granted?

(Discuss how the project is to be conducted and the approach to be taken including the anticipated length of the grant period).

How will the effects and quality of the project be determined?

(Describe how the project will be evaluated, including evaluation criteria, in relation to the goals and objects of the project

Page 37: Action Plan and Project (APP) Gloria Jumamil – Mercado PhD., MNSA

Considerations and Questions

How will others find out about the project and be able to use the results?

(Describe the outputs that will result, the degree to which they will be applicable to similar organizations, and the manner in which the outputs and results of the project will be disseminated).
