“MOVING FORWARD AS AN OUTBOUND PARISH” Parish Meeting – January 12th, 2019 1:30 pm

In keeping with Pope Francis’ encouragement to become an ‘outward bound church’, Archbishop Paul-André Durocher is asking every parish to continue the synodal consultation process, begun in November, 2018, by exploring this theme. ALL parishioners of St. Mark’s are urged to gather on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 1:30 - 3:30 pm to explore how we as a parish can institute Pope Francis’ mission to become an ‘outbound parish’ in Aylmer. We need input from EVERYONE—all ages and all backgrounds, new parishioners and longtime parishioners. The first session in November, 2018 was met with a lot of enthusiasm because it was very interactive and this second session will be very interactive as well. To find out more about this theme of ‘outbound church’ please watch Paul-André’s video at: https://youtu.be/WXgMiStxRqU or contact the members of the Synodal team: Fr. John, Margie Voisin, Michelle Jones and Barry Engelhardt. Looking forward to seeing all of you then! Baptism Preparation – First Session of the New Year is about to begin! The preparation for Baptism includes sessions on two consecutive Tuesday evenings. The first session begins on January 14, and the second session will follow on January 21 with the Baptisms to be celebrated on January 25 or January 26. You can register on-line from our website at www.stmarksaylmer.ca (under Sacraments) or by contacting the parish office at (819) 684-6926. So please share this information with friends and family members who might want to join us in these sessions. Envelopes for the collection - 2020 Collection Envelopes for 2020 are available in the church. Please be sure to use the current year, as each year your envelope number may change. Thank you!! Youth Group Please note that our youth group have started their Christmas break and will resume on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the parish hall.

Have you ever considered including St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church as a beneficiary in your will? Your gift will enable the parish to

continue its mission. Thank you!!

CChhrriissttmmaass MMeessssaaggee “As we approach Christmas, let us follow the example of the Holy Family who welcomed the poor shepherds as well as the rich wise men. Let us be open to human diversity, build bridges and create links. Let us have a special place in our hearts and neighbourhoods for immigrants and refugees who, like Mary and Joseph, have left their native country to find a haven of peace and life to raise their child. As written by Paul in the letter to the Hebrews,” “Do not forget hospitality: it has allowed some, without knowing it, to receive angels in their homes.”

The Christmas Celebration of Love Supper is such a lovely heart filled event held to provide a Christmas supper for those who wouldn’t normally have that opportunity. Our guests leave with hearts full of joy from enjoying this welcoming festive surrounding, a delicious supper with desserts and a visit from Santa who sends them home with heart-warming gifts to enjoy. Together as a community, we at St. Mark’s as well as so many others helped make a difference and touched so many lives! A huge thank you to everyone! As Mother Teresa often said, “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”
