Cycling is popular. It is clearly noticeable when Vätternrundan takes place every summer, where nearly 40 000 people annually sign up for the races. But cycling is something that nowadays engages all year around.
In the magazine Cykla we offer reportage, news, cycle gears, exercise, nutritional advices and a lot more to all cyclists that have signed up for any of the Vätternrundans races.
Since the beginning 1997, the magazine has been a great source of inspiration for all cyclists. I have been the editor since 2012 and notice how appreciated it is among the participants of Vätternrundan.
By advertising in the magazine you have the opportunity to easily reach nearly 40 000 cyclists who have already decided to face a challenge – to cycle 300 kilometers around the lake Vättern.
In addition, the magazine also goes out to hundreds of subscribers, consisting of both indivduals, receptions, stores, etc. The magazine is also shared at a numbers of fairs and events, where Vätternrundan is represented.

Vätternrundan is the world’s largest recreational bike ride and is organized in Motala, where the race starts and ends, since 1966. The main event is 300 kilometers long and runs every year in June. The weekend before runs MTB-Vättern (25 and 50 km), Tjejvättern (100 km) and Halvvättern (150 km). All Vätternrundans races are recreational and therefore lacks official lists of results.

More and more people choose bike before car for transportation, and the bike is now an obvious part of Swedes’ daily life. For many also throughout the year. A survey from Sifo, commissioned by the association Svensk Cykling shows that one third of Sweden’s population cycles every week.
The same survey shows that half of Sweden’s population use the bike as exercise. Many also acquire several bikes for different purposes, such as road and mountainbike for training and commuting cycles for travel to and from work.
In Sweden, more than 500.000 bicycles are sold annualy – a figure that has risen sharply in the 2010s.
Cykla’s circulation is about 34.000, but each edition is read by over 54.000. All cyclists, who is signed up for Vätternrundan, Halvvättern, Tjejvättern or MTBVättern recieve the magazine home in the mailbox as part of the registration fee. But you can also subscribe for it. The magazine is sent to the one who has already decided to complete a cycle race and therefore needs products to complete the challenge.
The Cykla reader is in all age classes and all parts of the country. The average age is close to 50 years, with certain geographical concentration to the metropolitan regions. Most are cyclists with great interest in both excercise and training. Surveys shows that it is a welleducated and affluent target group. Half of the participants of Vätternrundan have a degree from either college or university and as many earn more than SEK 33.000 a month.

With an advert in Cykla, you reach a target group who spans all over the country and of all ages. The readers are active well-educated and afflu-ent people who gladly challenge themselves. The readers are also registrated to one of the races and has already decided to complete the challenge.
In addition, Cykla has high reputation among the readers. When the magazine asked about how the readers liked the information they got in front of the race in Cykla 86 percent gave the score 4 or 5 on a 1–5 scale.
