10. Site Inspection Report - Lancaster Public School
Site Inspection Report for the site inspections conducted on October 15, 2015 at 7425
Netherwood Road, at the Kiss & Ride entrance of Lancaster Public School.
RECOMMENDATION
That the Traffic Safety Council Site Inspection Subcommittee conduct a further site
inspection at 7425 Netherwood Road at the Kiss & Ride entrance of Lancaster Public
School, in November 2015.
RECOMMEND APPROVAL
11. Site Inspection Report - Castlebridge Public School and Thomas Street Middle School
(Ward 6l
Site Inspection Report for site inspections conducted on October 22, 2015 at the
intersection of Glen Erin Drive and Thomas Street for the students attending Castlebridge
Public School and Thomas Street Middle School.
RECOMMENDATION
That the request for a crossing guard at the intersection of Glen Erin Drive and Thomas
Street be denied as the warrants are not met.
RECOMMEND APPROVAL
12. Site Inspection Report - Oscar Peterson Public School (Ward 10)
Site Inspection Report for site inspections conducted on October 23, 2015 at 5120
Perennial Drive, in front of Oscar Peter Public School.
RECOMMENDATION
1. That Transportation and Works be requested to consider the following:
a. Replace the faded No Stopping signs on Perennial Drive.
b. Add No U-Turn signage on Perennial Drive and Tenth Line to define No U-Turn
zones.

2. That Parking Enforcement be requested to enforce parking prohibitions on Tenth Line,
Perennial Drive and Destination Drive from 8:40 a.m. to 9:10 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. to 3:40
p.m.

3. That Peel Regional Police be requested to enforce the U-Turn zone at Tenth Line and
Perennial Drive.

13. Site Inspection Reports - Queen Elizabeth Senior Public School CWard 1)
Site Inspection Report for site inspections conducted on October 26, 2015 at 60 South
Service Road at Queen Elizabeth Senior Public School.
RECOMMENDATION
1. That Transportation and Works be requested to consider the following:
a. Installing addition 40KM (7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, September to
June) signage in front of Queen Elizabeth Senior Public School.

b. Installing signage for vehicles to warn them of pedestrians crossing the road to and
from the tunnel and pedestrian signs at the roadway north and south - at the
tunnel access/egress warding pedestrians to yield right of way to vehicles on South
Service Road.
2. That Peel Regional Police be requested to enforce the 40 KM speed zone in front of
Queen Elizabeth Senior Public School from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 3:30
p.m.
3. That the Principal of Queen Elizabeth Senior Public School be requested to have the
overgrown weeks cut back on the west side of the property adjacent to the school
entrance driveway to allow students to access the school on the marked walkway.

RECOMMENDATION
1. That the warrants for the retention of a crossing guard at the intersection of Second
Line and Lamplight Way for the students attending St. Julia Catholic School have been
met.
2. That the warrants for the retention of a crossing guard at the intersection of Second
Line and Lamplight Way for students attending Meadowvale Village Public School have
not been met.

Site Inspection Reports for site Inspections conducted on September 28 and October 21, 2015 at the Intersection Second Line and Sombrero Way for the students attending St.

RECOMMENDATION
1. That the Crossing Guard at Second Line and Sombrero Way, for students attending
Meadowvale Village Public School, will be removed as warrants are not met, as there
are no students from 8:45 a.m. to 9:10 a.m. and from 3:45 a.m. and 4:10 p.m ..
2. That the Crossing Guard at Second Line and Sombrero Way for students attending St.
Julia Catholic School, will remain from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and from 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
3. That Traffic Safety Council conduct a further site inspection at the intersection of
Second Line and Sombrero Way for students attending St. Julia Catholic School and
Meadowvale Village Public School.

16. Site Inspection Request
Email dated October 23, 2015 from Sheelagh Duffin, Supervisor, Crossing Guard, on behalf
of Mr. Royalpad, requesting the placement of a crossing guard at Hush Lane and Second
Line West, for students attending Meadowvale Village Public School.
RECOMMEND RECEIPT /REFERRAL

17. Crossing Guards Appreciation Banquet/Christmas Dinner and Long Service Awards
Email dated October 27, 2015 from Sheelagh Duffin, Supervisor, Crossing Guards,
requesting support from the Traffic Safety Council in funding of the 2015 Crossing Guard
Appreciation Banquet/Christmas Dinner and Long Service Award Event.
RECOMMENDATION
That the amount of up to $3,200.00 be approved to fund the 2015 Crossing Guards
Appreciation Banquet/Christmas Dinner and Long Service Award Event, as outlined in the
email dated October 27, 2015 from Sheelagh Duffin, Supervisor, Crossing Guards.

Additional Comments/Conflicts
No conflicts observed. Thomas Street Middle School students crossed confidently. Traffic courteous to crossing pedestrians. Intersection well marked. Zebra striping in place. Signal timing generous for crossing pedestrians. 3 students crossed in the AM for Castlebridge PS, 2 with parents. No students crossed from Castlebridge PS in the PM.

MARKED INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF WAKERS. KUDOS TO THE PTINCIPAL AND HER STAFF FOR PROMOTING WALKING. TSC SCHOOL WALKING ROUTES PROGRAM IN PLACE. CHANGES TO STAFFING OF KISS N RIDE AND DISMISSAL AND KISS N RIDE LAYOUT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO SMOOTHER OPERATION.
A NUMBER OF DRIVERS STILL TURN LEFT AT THE SCHOOL EXIT DRIVEWAY DESPITE SIGN SAYING NO LEFT TURN. IS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY SO NOT ENFORCEABLE, IS VOLUNTARY. A NUMBER OF DRIVERS PARK IN THE NO STOPPING ZONES ON TENTH LINE AND ON PERENNIAL DRIVE AND DESTINATION DRIVE. A NUMBER OF U TURNS OBSERVED IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL.
SEVERAL STUDENT CYCLISTS DID NOT WEAR HELMUTS - PRINCIPAL ADVISES SHE HAS SENT OUT SYNRE VOICE MESSAGES TO REMIND PARENTS THAT BIKING STUDENTS MUST WEAR HELMETS AND HAS ALSO CONDUCTED A BIKING CLINIC.
PARKING ENFORCEMENT ARRIVED AT SCHOOL DISMISSAL. TICKETED A COUPLE OF DRIVERS STOPPED ILLEGALLY IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL AND LEFT.
OVERALL SCHOOL ENTRY AND DISMISSAL REASONABLY ORDERLY CONSIDERING THE LARGE STUDENT POPULATION AT OSCAR PETERSON PS. PRINCIPAL AND STAFF DOING AN OUTSTANDING JOB.

Subject: Site Inspection Request - Second Line West and Hush Lane
Hi Heather,
Further to my conversation with Mr. Roya Ip ad earlier today, would you kindly schedule a Site Inspection to determine if the warrants are met for the placement of a school crossing guard at Hush Lane and Second Line West for the students of Meadowvale Village Public School.
As there are no sidewalks on the west side of Second Line West between Hush Lane and Old Derry Road, students are unable to access the stop controlled intersection at Old Derry Road and Second Line West to travel to Meadowvale Village PS. Therefore the students must cross Second Line West at Hush Lane where there is no control. There is a new small subdivision of homes on Rayah Court that are now occupied as well as some homes on Early Settler Row that use this route to access the school.
The times of the site inspection would be 8:40 - 9:10 am and 3:40-4:10 pm.
Kindly advise Mr. Royalpad of the date of the inspection once it is scheduled.

Subject: Crossing Guard Appreciation Banquet/Christmas Dinner Long Service Awards
Hello Angie,
Traffic Safety Council has been providing the Long Service awards for crossing guards since 1998; for the length of time we have been recognizing long service. As well, Traffic Safety Council has been providing a token gift to each crossing guard that attends the dinner. Up until this year, the awards for the Crossing Guard Appreciation Banquet/Christmas Dinner have been a Traffic Safety Council budget item. Therefore, since TSC no longer has a budget and must request money for all expenses, I would like to ask that TSC request monies for the following expenses:
1) 200 token gifts at $6.00 each, 1 for each crossing guard in attendance 2) 3 -25 year Long Service awards at the City standard of $200.00 each 3) 5 - 20 year plaques@ $65.95 each including tax and setup 4) 10-frames for 15 year certificates@ $30.00 each 5) 1- 40 year recipient @ $300.00 6) 1- 30 year recipient @ $250.00
