    GUIDELINES TO START B.Sc. COURSE Any organization under the Central Government, State Government, Local body or

    a Private or Public Trust, Mission, Voluntary registered

    under Society Registration Act or a Company registered under companys actwishes to open a School/College of Nursing, shouldobtain the No Objection/Essentiality certificate from the State government.

    The Indian Nursing council on receipt of the proposal from the Institution tostart nursing College, will undertake the first inspection to assess suitabilitywith regard to physical infrastructure, clinical facility and teaching faculty inorder to give permission to start the programme.

    After the receipt of the permission to start the nursing programme from IndianNursing Council, the institution shall obtain the approval from the State NursingCouncil and University.

    Institution will admit the students only after taking approval of State NursingCouncil and University.

    The Indian Nursing Council will conduct inspection every year till the first batchcompletes the programme. Permission will be given year by year till the first batchcompletes.

    Upgradation from School to College

    Any "School of Nursing " can upgrade to " Collegeof Nursing " provided one batch of students havepassed out after found suitable by INC. Further on up-gradation institution has to stop GNM Programs.

    Documents to be submitted to INC for Upgradation: Decision of the management

    committee to upgrade school of nursing to college ofnursing.

    Consent letter ofthe university to which the college needs affiliation.

    Physical facilities Proportionately the size of the built-up area will

    increase according to the number of studentsadmitted.

    College of nursing can share laboratories, if they are insame campus under same name and under same trust,that is the institution is one but offering differentnursing programmes. However they should haveequipments and articles proportionate to the strengthof admission. And the class rooms should be availableas per the requirement stipulated by Indian NursingCouncil of each programme

    Clinical Facilities College of nursing should have a 120-150 bedded

    Parent/Affiliated Hospital for 40 annual intake in eachprogramme:

    Distribution of beds in different areas

    Medical - 30 Surgical - 30 Obst. & Gynecology - 30 Pediatrics - 20

    Ortho - 10

    Bed Occupancy of the Hospital should be minimum 75%. The size of the Hospital/Nursing Home for affiliation should

    not be less than 50 beds.

    Other Specialties/Facilities for clinical experience required are as follows: Major OT Minor OT Dental Eye/ENT

    Burns and Plastic Neonatology with Nursery Communicable disease Community Health Nursing Cardiology Oncology Neurology/Neuro-surgery

    Affiliation of psychiatric hospital should be of minimum 30-50 beds. The Nursing Staffing norms in the affiliated Hospital should be as per the INC

    norms. The affiliated Hospital should give student status to the candidates of the nursing

    programme. Affiliated hospitals should be in the radius of 15-30 kms. 1:3 student patient ratio to be maintained. If the institution is having both GNM and B.Sc(N) programme, it would require 240

    bedded parent/affiliated hospital for 40 annual intake in each programme tomaintain 1:3 student patient ratio.

    First Inspection First Inspection is conducted on receipt of the proposal received from the

    institute to start any nursing program prescribed by Indian NursingCouncil. The proposal should have the following requisite documents:

    1. Application formThe requisite annexure for College of Nursing: Permission letter by State Government/Essentiality certificate of the

    respective State Government. Consent letter from the University. Duly attested Registration Certificate of Society or Trust Deed A bank draft for Rs. 50,000/- towards first inspection fee for College of

    Nursing in favour of Secretary, Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi{P.B.B.Sc.(N), B.Sc.(N), M.Sc.(N), M. Phil(N), Ph.D(N)} Proposal for starting College of Nursing, which includes in detail teaching,

    clinical & physical facility including budget.

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or

    before 31st Dec. of the year of admission2. The minimum educational requirements shall be thepassing of: Highersecondary school certificateExamination (12 years course),

    OrSenior School certificate Examination (10+2), pre-degreeExamination (10+2)

    OrAn equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognizedboard or Universitywith science (Physics, chemistry,Biology) and English with minimum of 50% aggregatemarks (PCBE) passing one at the same time.

    3. Candidate shall be medically fit.

    Entrance / Selection test Selection of the candidates should be based

    DISCIPLINE RULES

    COLLEGE:- Be punctual. Discipline should be maintained in class. You should be courteous to all. Be gentle and polite in your

    talk. Dont argue with your teachers. Cell phones are not allowed in college. Dont make any kind of noise in college campus.

    Be regular with your studies. Arrange the class properly. No student is allowed to room, here and there during their

    study hours.

    HOSTEL

    Study time : 9:00 11:00 PM Dont write anything on the walls of the classroom and of hostel. Cell phones are not allowed in corridors. Keep mobile on vibration. No student is allowed to move here and there during study period. Dont talk loudly in hostel. Switch off the light and fans before leaving the room. Students can take 2 night pass in a month. Any student who failed

    to report at time will be charged fine of Rs. 100/- and 1 night passwill be deducted.

    Door of hostel will be opened at 7:45 AM. No visitor is allowed to go in the rooms. Switch on lights of corridor at 6:00 PM Visitors are allowed on Saturday from 4:30 to 6:30 PM and Sunday

    from 9:00 to 6:30 PM.

    MESS:- Speak softly with mess workers. No one is allowed to carry the utensils to the rooms. All the students should take their meals in mess. Wear proper dress while going mess. Dinner timings: 7:45 PM to 8:30 PM. All the students

    should leave the hostel for dinner at sharp 7:45 PM. And after the dinner all the students should give the

    attendance to the warden before going back to theirrooms.

    Note: - Any student who break any rule of the college, hostelor mess is charged with fine of Rs. 50/-
