Dear Aspiring HU LIONS,You are about to embark on a new journey- one fraught with tough decisions about your future plans, viable career paths and your need for intellectual growth. ‘Habib University’ is a unique, high quality and first-of-its kind liberal arts & Sciences University, offering interdisciplinary education in science, engineering, arts, humanities and social sciences. Committed to providing the highest standards of excellence in higher education and envisioned to be an intellectual nexus for the region, Habib University will develop the next generation of scholars who will positively impact society.

The core of Habib University is built around the liberal model of education. A liberal education prepares an individual for life. Habib graduates will possess expertise in their chosen majors, but they will also possess unparalleled skills in thinking critically and analytically across disciplines. They will be knowledgeable, thoughtful, entrepreneurial and dynamic – firm stepping-stones for both the marketplace as well as graduate studies. And they will be qualified not just to fill jobs in the present, but to shape jobs and opportunities for the future.

Current research suggests that undergraduate education is not about gaining mastery in one discipline or acquiring applied vocational skills; instead, values, competencies and generic skills that enable graduates to become innovators, entrepreneurs, problem-solvers, independent learners, thinkers and above all compassionate citizens of this world are more important outcomes of an effective undergraduate program. Habib University embraces this philosophy and provides an interdisciplinary learning environment and engages students in a rigorous learning process through intensive reading and writing, self-learning, team work, and problem solving methods.

Habib University’s focus is on the liberal arts and sciences. Our well designed learning facilities, innovative degree programs, exceptional global faculty, vibrant student life, thoughtfully designed career-building initiatives and an extensive global network will all help you to harness your true potential and acquire the critical skills needed to be leaders and entrepreneurs in your respective fields.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONHabib University uses two tests to assess students’ ability to undertake University-level studies – the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) and the Science and Engineering Examination (SEE). While very important, these are not pass/fail, high-stakes tests. Results of the test are just one of the important tools used to assess our applicants for admission to Habib University.

Common Entrance Exam (CEE)The Habib University Common Entrance Examination (CEE) is a computer-based standardized test. The purpose of this examination is ensuring University-level readiness in Math and English. The CEE is divided into three sections, i.e. Reading, Writing and Basic Math. All applicants for the School of Science and Engineering and the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences have to take this test.

Science and Engineering Examination (SEE)Applicants for the School of Science and Engineering also take the Science and Engineering Examination besides the CEE. The SEE is designed to test applicants’ competence in advance Mathematics studied at the A Level or HSSC level. Pre-medical students or students form General Science Background who have not studied Math will not be required to take this test. However; they will be required to attend a

special Mathematics Program to build their capacity to deal with Mathematics in their undergraduate course

Exemption from the Habib University Entrance Examination• You may be exempted from the Habib University Common Entrance Examination if you have taken the SAT I and scored 1800 or above. • If you are applying for the SSE, you can also petition for exemption from the Habib University Science and Engineering Examination after sending us your SAT II subject scores for Physics, Math and Chemistry. • You should submit your SAT scores using SAT score code 7344. Habib University’s commitment to cover the demonstrated financial need of students is ensured through a very strong need-based Financial Assistance Program. This program includes the following types of financial assistance:

Student Loans: Habib University offers need-based student loans with a facilitative repayment plan. You will only be expected to start paying back your loan

six to twelve months after graduation. Habib University also offers work-study programs that will allow you to pay off a portion of your loans during your four years

as a student. This program has been structured to ensure that loans will not become a liability for those who avail this option.

Grants: These are need-based funds that are awarded based on the financial aid application. Grants are subject to an annual review of a student’s financial

circumstances and do not need to be repaid.

Student Employment Opportunities: A portion of financial assistance may be assigned to Work Study Programs. While participating in Work Study Programs,

a student is employed on campus for a maximum of about 20 hours a week. Students are paid an hourly wage in exchange for their work.
