PLEASE STEP FORWARD

Queensland needs you!

Across Queensland, women are underrepresented in the entrepreneur community and at boardroom tables.

At the Advisory Board Centre, we see this within our own group where only 18% of Advisors are women.  Female entrepreneurs and executives are often "self-selecting" out of opportunities because of a perceived lack of skills, experience, network or influence.

It;s time to step forward.

Join us as we educate and empower Queensland women to increase their participation at the Boardroom table as Entrepreneurs and Advisors.

ADVANCING WOMEN ON BOARDS

PROGRAM

MARKET INSIGHTS

Advisory boards are an important, value

building tool used by progressive

businesses and entrepreneurs to support

critical thinking and strategic outcomes.

To support women in stepping forward, it

is important that they are equipped with

the skills to excel as an Entrepreneuer

supported by Advisors or as an Advisor to

businesses.

Research shows that diversity in the boardroom improves monitoring, innovation and decision-making effectiveness, and an organisation’s performance more broadly.

“The number of Australian women  operating their own businesses has steadily increased over the past 20 years to 33%, but in line with other OECD countries, they remain ‘substantially under-represented as entrepreneurs’.”

Who should participate?

The program is aimed at entrepreneurial Queensland women who have achieved success in their own business or have had senior management experience growing and developing a business.

You may be from rural/regional areas, a family business or C suite executive.

Just as we are seeking to increase diversity within the boardroom, the program is seeking women from diverse backgrounds, industries and locations across Queensland.

Applicants will have a desire to:

Actively participate within the Entrepreneurs community within Australia

Gain new skills and knowledge to increase their participation at a Boardroom level

Expand their sphere of influence to build opportunities to support Entrepreneurs as an Advisor

(Board Diversity and Financial Performance in the Top 500 Australian

Firms’, 2015)

Applicants must complete a comprehensive selection process and meet suitability criteria.

(A Profile of Australian Women in Business, ABS, 2015)

Businesses with well-structured Advisory Boards perform better. Canadian research quantitatively demonstrates that SMEs that use them have superior growth and better financial results

(Business Development Bank of Canada, 2014)

Will you step forward?
