ADVERTISING GUIDELINES PREFERRED AD BUILDING PROGRAMS ADOBE INDESIGN Adobe Photoshop Adobe Illustrator QUALITY STANDARDS (NEWSPAPER) PREFERRED AD DELIVERY SYSTEM ADOBE PDF WITH FONTS EMBEDDED EPS FILE WITH FONTS EMBEDDED Photos and backgrounds must be a minimum of 200DPI (dots per inch) with ad at 100% scale Text and line illustrations should be at least 600DPI All color should be defined as CMYK (This includes all photos and illustrations) Fast Fact: Colors and shades of grey will be adjusted automatically for best visual contrast on the paper that we use to print the ad. Bitmapped images (Photos and flat art) will be adjusted slightly differently than“Vector” images (defined by boxes and other shapes) Never try to blend Bitmapped and Vector art seamlessly. It will not work. Photos and backgrounds must be a minimum of 300DPI (dots per inch) with ad at 100% scale Text and line illustrations should be at least 600DPI All color should be defined as CMYK (This includes all photos and illustrations) Fast Fact: Our magazine ad sizes are different from our regular newspaper sizes. All full page ads are designated as “Bleeds” unless otherwise noted by the customer. An ad that “bleeds” must have at least .25” of overflow to be “true bleed.” A “Bleed” means to extend the background outside of the document. (More is always better) Most full page magazines ads prefer to run as a bleed; it gives a more professional and sophisticated look to an ad.
