City of San Angelo Finance Department Memo Date: March 21, 2012 To: Mayor and Councilmembers From: Morgan Trainer, Budget Manager Subject: Agenda Item for April 3, 2012 Council Meeting Contact: Morgan Trainer, Finance, 653-6291 Caption: Regular Discussion of 2012-2017 Capital Improvement Plan Summary: The Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) is required by the City Charter and aids the City Council when making funding allocations in the annual operating budget. Capital projects are submitted and reviewed for priority, relevance to the community, and funding consideration each year. The City Charter requires the CIP be introduced to City Council five (5) months prior to final submission of the budget to City Council. The Charter also requires a public hearing on the plan and adoption of the plan on or before adoption of the annual budget. CIP projects were prepared by project managers and reviewed by the committee. Public meetings were held March 20, March 22, and March 26 to gather comments, suggestions, and priorities from citizens. At the April 17, 2012 Council meeting we will hold a public hearing and propose adopting the CIP resolution. History: The 2011-2016 CIP is attached for reference.
