Argyle Diamonds is a Rio Tinto Company that prides itself in using World’s Best Practices in the running of its site. As Shovel Service Coordinator Key Functions were to liaise with the planning and production departments for a timely and safe completion of the planned service and repairs. To coach the service team in specific tasks and develop their skills to be competent and consistent in their workmanship and quality of repair.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Consistently achieved above target Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) maintenance outcomes for serviced equipment. That resulted in an increase of machine reliability and availability for mining production.

Proactive in organising projects and recruiting personnel for major work that was out of the planned maintenance scope and budget. Due to an unexpected major mechanical failure of an O&K RH200 Final Drive it was decided to take the shovel out of service and strip all components off for use as spares for the two working RH200’s. This in effect brought the cost of maintaining the two remaining shovel into an acceptable budget scope.
Implemented job rotation and development, ensuring task coverage when other team members were required elsewhere.
