PROJECT 2

Aim and Purpose:

The aim and purpose of Project 2 ‘Radio podcast / chat program’ is for you to investigate specific audio-based skills and attributes required for a creative production and technology in audio-based media industry.

Scenario of vocational context / work experience brief:

The brief for project 2 is set by a local ‘Rotary radio UK’ station. The station would like you to individually produce 10 minutes podcast based on an issue or issues that you think deserve to be spoken about from a young person perspective. Individual podcasts will form a collection of podcasts under the title ‘Because it matters’ and will be broadcasted on ‘Rotary radio UK’ station.

Task description:

This project requires you to research, plan, develop practical skills in audio recording and editing required to produce a 10 minutes radio podcast on a topic that you find relevant to be spoken about from a young person’s perspective.

· At the initial stage of the project you will be involved in several practical tasks and workshops, which will allow you to build new skills and experiment with a range of different audio recording and editing styles and techniques. Those experiments will be logged on your blog / online platform to demonstrate what you have learnt from ongoing practical workshops. You will be also involved in researching the topic / topics that will help you develop ideas and plan your project thoroughly for successful outcome.

·

· Throughout production process you will record and critically analyse the effectiveness of different processes and techniques and problems and solutions that you have encountered. You will reflect on how you dealt with technical problems and management problems of your project (of the project, your time, crew etc.)

· In addition to the practical application you will need to demonstrate an ability to work according to safe working practices that are required in a professional workplace. This will be evidenced through your professional conduct and assessment of risks that can be present throughout production.

· You should proofread your work before you submit. This will give you the chance to check for any spelling or grammatical errors. You should also take a professional approach to your work; remember plagiarism (coping) work from any sources is not acceptable. This must be your own work so make sure you reference all your sources (Harvard referencing).
