Aloeride® started when in my family severe topical eczema -clinically unresponsive to sensible actions- brought us to a ‘with back against wall’ situation with looming topical steroids.

I went beyond ‘something worth doing is worth doing well’ to make what since 2004 became commercially available as Aloeride® Extra Strong: our unique aloe vera compound, taste-free in blisterfoiled vegicapsules.

In 2010 Equine Aloeride® was launched using identical Quality Control with powder quantity adjusted to equine body mass and dispensed in sachets: simply sprinkle of feed, to date zero rejection even by fussy eaters.

Aloe Vera is a desert plant that is 99.5% water and 0.5% solids, the plant’s rind (its epithelium) is the barrier that makes the difference between existing and evaporating. Epithelium separates air from deeper tissue.

This is why aloe vera is genetically predisposed to high attention maintenance and exceptionally fast repair of epithelial tissue: Outside covering epithelium is skin, coat, mane, tail, hooves (skin, hair nails in humans). Inside covering epithelium comprises of mucous membranes: the lining of gastro-intestinal tract and to a lesser degree the lining of the respiratory tract and urinary tract.

Aloe certainly is not a panacea, what seems like very different issues concerns the same tissue type. Beyond that one tissue type, the various nutrients within aloe vera effect the biochemical and physiological effects Science knows them to have. That’s why aloe vera does a lot and giving a horse enough to make the maximum difference is where Aloeride® really stands out.

There is a very substantial body of proper research on aloe vera, much of which is a little dated because aloe vera is not a very ‘hip’ substance anymore.

Independent product comparative tests show that many if not most aloe vera products fail to deliver all the molecules necessary to effect what research has proven aloe vera can do.

Industry standard Handbook of Phytochemical Constituents of GRAS Herbs and Other Economic Plants (by James A. Duke) states that aloe vera contains some 300 constituents, some of which are listed here.

Biochemical and physiological aspects of nutrition apply to every food substance and effect the same result in human and horse. With a great many different types of molecules known to reside within aloe vera, such aspects for our feed supplement invariably are going to be broad.

Often heard marketing is that aloe vera liquid/gel is best. Equivalent untruth would be to say that the water in tomato soup maketh the soup.

The only correct view is that, within any aloe vera it is the working solids that cause the magic.

This website screen grab shows the few oral aloe products sold for equine use. It should be self-evident what product quality and value for money Aloeride® brings to the market place.

The following pages afford you the opportunity to lift the veil on the ample and creative marketing blurb and discover what labels and marketing fail to disclose.

Industry standard calculation: aloe raw material has a ratio of 0.5gr (500mg) of total solids per 100mL of original juice which contains 99.5mL of water (= mg because 1L = 1 kg = 1000gr, 1mL = 1gr = 1000mg). Each Aloeride® 2,0000mg sachet = [2,000mg/500mg solids part] x 100mL = 400mL of original juice x 30 sachets = 12,000mL = 12 litres of certified organic aloe vera juice.

At 3.65% the actually purity of product is a very far cry from this manufacturer’s marketing statement that their product is 99% pure.

This is the industry standard measurement of working solids within aloe vera. Aloeride® has 2.6x more of these, and more is better providing the spectrum is preserved!

Not all polyhydroxy-anthraquinones are useful, measured here are those that cause diarrhoea. People with exactly that issue can benefit from Aloeride® because of potency + fullest removal of laxative molecules.

In the polysaccharide fraction that effects support for anti-inflammatory action Aloeride® scores 4.11 x better; 2.6 x 4.11 = a 10.69 per litre overall difference when it comes to controlling inflammatory responses.

In the polysaccharide fraction that highly effects immune modulation Aloeride® scores 7.2 x better, interestingly not just up-regulation; 2.6 x 7.2 = a 18.72 per litre overall difference.

This company’s marketing made such an outrageous claim about aloeride immune molecules that I had to test their product! None were present in their product… there’s marketing for you.

In the polysaccharide fraction that effects support for anti-inflammatory action Aloeride® scores 3.3 x better; 4.06 x 3.3 = 13.44 overall difference.

The smaller Dalton fraction measurement contains broken-up polysaccharides due to processing, the higher the % the less careful the processing... a choice some manufacturers choose to devalue.

The activity of this immune modulating fraction depends on the presence of the 2.0 x 106 fraction, which was 0%... again Aloeride® wins hands down.

Marketing of this product prides itself on high level of working solids HOWEVER the unmentioned snake in the grass was a completely disrupted spectrum, 98% of these molecules are useless!

Every different fraction has an extremely low value, without any soldiers no army can win, a galaxy removed from how good aloe vera can be…

This is one hallmark of bad aloe vera product manufacturing; shoddily executed condensing causing heat to denature the low starting quantity of beta-linked polysaccharides, a massive gap between marketing and reality, not that you would know from the label…

At 6.86% the purity of product is a far cry from the marketing, this is a product that is extensively used in the beauty industry and makes for a beautifully cheap ingredient... do you want this impure on your face?!

This is a spray dried aloe vera product, the industry standard measurement of working solids is therefore halved (½ matrix, ½ aloe vera) , their misery 140mg/L did not warrant further size exclusion chromatography tests.

This level of laxative polyhydroxy-anthraquinones causes diarrhoea for sure, good thing that this product is used mostly for external use, HOWEVER there is one company documented to sell this as their premium (!!) oral supplement… caveat emptor, not that you would know from the label…
