SOMMER I SØNDERBORG
SEASON PROGRAMME
AUTUMN
C O N C E RT H A L L A L S I O N
12
It has been said that Sønderborg is an example that great things also happen in smaller places. If this is true
then this year’s experiences at Alsion are testament to such a statement.
This autumn our beautiful concert hall will amongst other events, provide a framework for one of the major,
nationwide cultural events: the Crown Prince Couple Awards 2012, a large scale show broadcast live on DR
1. We are both pleased and proud to announce that Sønderborg has been selected to host such a prestigious
and meaningful celebration of cultural life in Denmark.
However there is little time to dwell on this announcement as in November we will also host the CSR
AWARDS 2012 back in Sønderborg, which will inevitably bring the whole city buzzing to life... which will also
include a key note speech by Bill Clinton at Alsion.
And then there many looking forward to the many other prestigious events on offer such as appearances by
the magnifi cent South Jutland Symphony Orchestra and Sønderborg Theatrical Society which guarantee
exciting and rich experiences. We should also mention the hugely successful Solo Artists in Café Alsion where
Simon Rosenbaum constantly performs to sold-out audiences this time in the company of, amongst others,
Dario Campeotto and the rest of the talented Rosenbaum family. You can also experience both classical and
modern ballet performed at the highest standard and also a wonderful production of Mozart’s classic opera
The Marriage of Figaro.
Be entertained by the wit and humour of Mick Øgendahl or be enthralled by Ghita Nørby and Lars Hannibal’s
beautiful rendition of storytelling and music.
There is also much more on the programme – all for your enjoyment. So from all of us behind the scenes,
we want to welcome you to Alsion Concert Hall and be entertained.
John Bøgelund Frederiksen, Head of Culture, Sønderborg Municipality

Alsion Concert Hall is amongst Europe’s
fi nest venues when it comes to classi-
cal symphonic music. Therefore,
Sønderborg is also a popular place for
many musicians to perform and apart
from the many exciting events with
the South Jutland Symphony Orches-
tra, Alsion is also visited regularly by
many other popular classical acts.
Amongst those who have performed
at Alsion Concert Hall are Trio Con
Brio, who together with South
Jutland Symphony Orchestra were
invited to offi cially open Alsion and
then return to record a CD in the hall.
Since then the esteemed venue has
welcomed Concerto Copenhagen, The
Royal Danish Orchestra and
Münchener Kammerorchester and
also earlier this year The Academy of
St. Martin in the Fields, under the
direction of Håkan Hardenberger
graced our stage.
There are already many exciting per-
formances booked in place for 2013,
including a concert from The Dresden
Philharmonic in Alsion on 6th Novem-
ber featuring the skilled direction of
conductor Michael Sanderling.
