Alternate Delegate’s Report

Greetings Missouri AFG,

I can’t hardly believe I am writing

my last Round Robin article as the

Missouri Area Alternate Delegate.

It’s been my honor and privilege to serve in this role

the last three years. I have thoroughly enjoyed

providing training to Group Representatives and

District Representatives. I have loved watching the

District and Group Representatives build

community and continuity with each other.

At the recent Assembly, I shared information

regarding our participation in the Missouri State AA

Convention. Sue K., Panel 57 Alternate Delegate,

and I will work closely resolving these concerns and

will keep all members informed during the process.

I would like to personally thank all members who

selflessly served the Missouri Area during Panel 54.

It’s been awesome to getting to know each of you a

little bit better.

We are coming to the end of Panel 54 and will

have to say good-bye to some. We will also welcome

new trusted servants to the Missouri Area as they

begin their journey in AFG Service. My journey will

continue as well. I was elected the Panel 57

Delegate at the November Assembly. I am honored

and humbled to have the opportunity to represent

the Missouri Area at the World Service Conference.

I have created a new email where I can be reached:

*********************************.

I will be passing on my current email,

********************** to Sue K. at the end of

November. I would also like to send a special thank

you to the Panel 54 Missouri Officers. I’ve had a

blast working with each of you. I’ve learned some

very special skills from each of these ladies that I

will be able to carry with me and use in the future.

Thank you for the opportunity to be of service. This

a gift that I will always cherish. I am looking

forward to serving you as the Missouri Area Delegate

in Panel 57.

What we believe, we can achieve!

Love in Service,

Sarah S.

Panel 54 Missouri Area Alternate Delegate

Chairperson’s Report Good morning, Missouri Al-Anon.

What a great Election Assembly we

had! It was so nice to have so many

individuals step up to service and

continue to guide this wonderful

Fellowship in Missouri. I am so proud of our new

incoming Officers: Sarah S., Sue K., Lynn C.-R.,

Karen C., and Lori H. I am confident that they will

serve us well. It has been a joy working for them

these last years and I am so looking forward to see

what new ideas they have in store for us.

I have not finished reviewing the evaluations from

Assembly. I will continue to do that this week and

hope to share them with the current Panel of

Officers by next week. I will compile some of the

comments and ask Kathy G to post them on the web

site so be keeping an eye out for that.

Once I have finished with the evaluations I will

begin, with the help of the incoming Coordinators, to

look at the Alternate Coordinator positions. I

received a lot of forms showing interest in those

positions and I am so grateful that so many folks are

willing to slide into service. If you are interested but

did not have the opportunity to fill out a form,

please email me or call me with position you are

interested in and we’ll see what we can do.

There is still so much to do this Panel. I will be

working with Lynn over the course of the next 2

months and pass along to her the materials that I

have compiled over the last 3 years. I am looking

forward to having Lynn lead us into a stronger Area

than we already are.

At the beginning of 2017 I will take over the post

of Area Literature Depot Coordinator from Dora. I’m

looking forward to a change in responsibility and

learning even more about our literature. I know

that Dora has done a fabulous job for us over the

past years. I hope I can do the same. I’m also

looking forward to working closely with Sue B., our

new Area Forum/Literature Coordinator. I have

created a new email account for those who are

THE YEAR. Once my term has started, please use

****************************** to place your orders or

contact me about literature orders. Until the 1st of

the year, please continue to contact Dora for your

literature needs.

Again, congratulations to the new Panel of Officers,

Coordinators and those still un-named Alternate

Coordinators. I look forward to seeing what we can

accomplish the next three years.

Lastly, I am so proud of what you have achieved

these last three years. The fellowship, the hard work

and the celebrations have been fabulous and I

couldn’t be more proud of what you have

accomplished. It has been my pleasure and privilege

to serve you. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have.

I couldn’t have asked for a better Area. Also, all my

best to our out-going Delegate, Karen L., as she leaves

Missouri. We will miss you Karen. Take care and

keep in touch.

Yours in Service,

Regional Trustee Update Out of respect for all Missouri members I requested

the following be included in this edition of the

newsletter. I received the following from the WSO on

October 27. I’ve waited to make the announcement

as I didn’t want this topic to be a distraction to

elections.

Passing it on,

Donna E.H. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

“Dear Donna,

On behalf of the World Service Office Nominating

Committee and the US South Central Regional

Committee on Trustees, thank you for allowing your

Al-Anon Members Involved in Alateen Service (AMIAS) Experiences

The Teens teach me so much!

This is my first year at CBAT- the Missouri Alateen

Conference. I came from Oklahoma with another

sponsor and three teens. At least I’m not here on

my own as a first-timer. As with other times in my

recovery journey, it’s good to know I’m not alone.

We had a couple of adventures on our way here-

my term for “wrong turns”. In my life earlier life

these were often mistakes or much worse; now it’s a

time to see something I would have otherwise

missed-like the lovely lake we got to see yesterday.

It was good to be in a car filled with people of the

same mind- no harsh words or even irritated sighs,

just looking to see what might be around the next

corner or over the next hill.

I’ve not been an Alateen sponsor for long; just a

few years. The teens teach me so much when I keep

an open mind and an open heart. I am grateful for

the opportunity to be here and see what lies around

the next corner or over the next hill, in my journey

of recovery as well as theirs.

On Being an AMIAS

I originally became an AMIAS to help grow in my

own recovery. I had been in Al-Anon for two years

and wanted to get closer to my daughter. I figured

being part of Alateen would help. I realized that

giving back to the program was more important than

anything else. I attended my first event with the

teens and it was an eye-opening experience.

Grumpy teenagers in the morning turned into loving

teenagers by the end of the day. They are human

just like me. I heard my first Alateen speaker at my

first Alateen event and it changed my perspective.

The raw honesty about life and feelings made me

realize how much the teens do understand and that

they do have so much courage. They are more

honest and open than I have ever been and I could

learn something from them. They have compassion

for others that I have lacked. They show

unconditional love that I have not. I realized how

much I can learn from these teens. I remember how

much I can be of service by being an AMIAS and

helping get them to these events. These teens are

our future. Being an AMIAS is the best way to give

back to Al-Anon and carry the message of courage,

strength and hope.

Area Alateen Process Person (AAPP) Greetings!

Here we are with the last article for this panel!

Not only are we in a time of transition, tying up the

loose ends with our current positions, we are

preparing to move forward with the responsibilities

of our new positions. Then, of course, we get to look

forward to the holidays. My son who lives in

California and his family are coming for

Thanksgiving. I am excited and looking forward to

it. I hope you are also able to look forward to the

holidays with joy.

At Assembly, it was decided that all future Al-Anon

Members Involved In Alateen Service (AMIAS}

candidates and all renewing AMIAS will need to

submit a copy of their background report from the

Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) (or

provide the AAPP with their Social Security number

so the AAPP can get it directly from the FCSR.)

The website address to download the form to have

the initial background check done is:

http://health.mo.gov/safety/fcsr/forms.php .

When you go to that site, there are two versions

of the form. One is a pdf that you can download,

print out, and fill out by hand. The other is a

WORD file that you can fill out on your computer

then print out and sign. The cost is $13.00 using

either of these methods.

If you choose to submit the form on-line, the

cost is $14.25, but that option is also available

on the FCSR site. Either way, you will need to

provide them with your social security number.

Until the end of the year, you will then send the

copy of your background check with your AMIAS

application and the WSO form (both available on

the Missouri Area website) to me. Beginning

January 1, 2017, those forms should be sent to

Janet W., the newly elected Area Alateen Process

Person.

Thank you for the privilege of serving Missouri

Alateens during Panel 54. It is an experience I

have cherished.

Step Twelve

Having had a spiritual awakening as the result

of these steps, we tried to carry this message to

Literature Depot Coordinator I have reported before that sales have been slower

this year, so once again I will report the figures.

These figures go back to when I took over this

position.

8/27/13 to 10/31/16 gross profit 1,028.97

1/02/16 to 10/31/16 gross profit 4,884.40

11/10/12 to 10/31/16 gross profit 23,234.55

All of you, your groups and public outreach, have

done a great job getting the Al-Anon message out.

Thank you so much.

I was asked at Convention about changes to a

piece of Alateen literature that I knew nothing

about. It is my duty in my position to know these

things. So I looked for the answer. The answer is

that there are no changes to B-3 Alateen Hope for

Children of Alcoholics. I am thankful for the

question and glad I could answer it before my term

is up. It has been fun to work in this position.

Thank you,

Speaker Coordinator As hard as it is to believe, Panel 54 is nearly at an

end. I am grateful to have had the honor to serve our

Area as your Speaker Coordinator through this panel.

Our speakers at the Area Convention this year seem

to have been a big hit for the most part. There were

some people who felt they had to sit too long on

Saturday night but many comments I heard were that

people felt they could have listened to Nancy and Mary

all night. People loved the speakers on Friday night

and Sunday morning too. I am so grateful we were

able to have them all there to share their experience,

strength and hope.

I reported to you at the last Area Assembly that we

were up to 58 CDs in our library. Well as I write this

and have the CD library ready to turn over to a new

Speaker Coordinator we are up to 79 CDs! It just

keeps growing and I am very happy to see it do so.

I realize my term is not over until the New Year, but

my job is one where the CDs need to be turned over

when a new Coordinator is elected, as it is important

for the new Convention Committee to have access to

them to begin the process of looking for speakers for

the next convention. My experience has been that the

sooner you can book your speakers the better because

their date books fill up quickly.

It is also important to have backup speakers ready

because you never know when you will need one or

more. I learned this many years ago when my service

sponsor was going to speak at a function and on her

way she fell and broke her leg and was actually in the

hospital when she was supposed to have spoken.

Luckily they were able to find someone to take her

place at the last minute because they had planned

ahead for such an emergency.

I want to thank my Alternate Speaker Coordinator for

always being there and being willing to help not only

me, but anyone and anywhere someone needed help

this last three years. I also want to thank the handful

of Area members who felt so strongly that we should

take advantage of the opportunity to have Mary R.

come and speak. They anonymously donated to help

make that happen so that the Area would not incur the

expenses. To me, that is Al-Anon at it's best! Thank

you to Marilynn for all of her hard work this Panel, and

to the convention and speaker committees too. Thank

you to the Area officers who helped out in so many

ways, and to our Past Delegates and Past Trustees for

sharing their experience, strength and hope with me.

A list of the CDs in the library as of today follows and

is available to anyone who wants to email me with a

request.

It has been such a joy to be your trusted servant this

Panel.

Respectfully submitted,

Sandi M.

Convention Coordinator Report The elections are over and we need to welcome

Melanie E. as our incoming Convention Coordinator.

She is just finishing her term as District 4

Representative. Welcome Melanie!

In the last Round Robin I mentioned some of the

statistics from 2016 Convention. We appear to be in

the black thanks to your support. I will ask Diane if

she can share the specific categories in the Round

Robin since she is the keeper of the details. Before I

turned in a request for reimbursement before

Assembly, our income had been $8,681.00. Our

expenses were $7,303.92. If there are any folks who

have not turned in reimbursable expenses for the

convention, please do so by the end of the year. At

the March AWSC we will probably act on the

procedural guidelines to donate half of our profit to

WSO and keep half to our treasury.

The chosen theme for the 2017 Convention is

‘Getting your “kicks” while celebrating “66”! Having

fun in recovery.’ Now it is up to all of us to think of

workshops, mini-meetings, skits, songs, gift basket

themes, decorations and much more to present at the

convention. I am sure that Melanie will gladly accept

your help on the committee. Be looking for her article

in the January issue with her contact information.

Let’s have another successful convention in 2017.

The next Area meeting to remember is the March

Area World Service Committee (AWSC) meeting to be

held in Jefferson City on March 11, 2017. Be

watching for more information.

I would like to remind all who want to donate to the

Step Eleven fundraiser to please do so even after the

deadline. The Missouri Alateen Conference (CBAT)

can always use your financial help. Continue to use

the donation flier or send donations marked “Step

Eleven” to any of the Alateen Coordinators. They will

forward to the treasurer to put into the Step Eleven

funds. We appreciate the Area members’ support.

Thank you for letting me serve as your Area

Convention Coordinator. I look forward to helping

share information with Melanie in the near future so

she can get 2017 off to a good start. I also look

forward to seeing you all again as the Missouri

Alateen Coordinator for Panel 57. Have a peaceful

holiday season and a hope-filled new year.

Yours in service,

Marilynn M.
