CUTTING:From light fabric, cut: 2 - 5” squares OR ifmakingflyinggeese 5” square 4 - 17/8”squares-FG-cutinhalfoncediagonallyFrom dark fabric, cut: 2 - 5” squares OR ifmakingflyinggeese 5” square 3¼”square-FG-cutinhalftwicediagonally 2 - 11/8” x 5¾” 2 - 11/8” x 4½”

DIRECTIONS:MAKE FLYING GEESE:Using the light and dark triangles, stitch4flyinggeeseunitsbystitching one light triangle to the rightsideofdarktriangle,thenstitchtheremaininglighttriangletotheotherside.Flyinggeese units will measure 1½” x 2½” at this point.

HSTS WITH TRIANGLE PAPER:Layertogetheradarkandlight5”squarefabric,rightsidestogether with light on top. Cut 2 seperate squares of 1” charm trianglepapertoyield8HSTspersquare,atotalof16isneeded.

Shortenyoustitchlengthandstitchonalldashedlines…cutapartonallsolidlines.PressHSTunitswiththepaperstillon,toward the dark fabric.

Removepaperbygrabbingfromthecenterofthepapertriangleandpullingitawayfromtheseam.HSTunitsshouldmeasure 1½” at this point.

Layoutall16halfsquaretriangleunitsandstitchtogetherinto4rows,pressingseamsinalternating directions. Stitch the 4 rows together and press seams open.

ORLayout8halfsquaretriangleunitsand4flyinggeeseunits.Stitchtogetherinto3rows,pressing seams in alternating directions. Stitch the 3 rows together and press seams ope.

Finishpiecedblockbystitching2-11/8” x 4½” dark strips to the sides, pressing seams awayfromblock.Stitch2-11/8”x5¾”tothetopandbottom,pressingseamsawayfromblock.
