The American army arrived with a new hope for the the France. They set up in Saint-Nazaire, where they were welcomed by the French people. There presence have boosted the economy of the departement of Loire inférieure.

After the English debarqument, the mayor Bellamy decreted that the port of Saint Nazaire is the good place to welcomed the stangers. So, the port suffered a lot of amelioration (like: railway lines, etc...)

In 1918, the French lived with the Americans celebrations like «the « Independence's day » or « the Lincoln's Birthday », etc...
