HISTORICAL VIEW In 1950’s, the Turkish Ministry of Education ( MAARIF ) took

a decision to start an educational project aiming to raise a new young generation with advanced foreign language and culture skills.

Following this decision, the government decided to send 6 experienced teachers abroad, to complete a dedicated education program and become the founding directors of 6 boarding schools ( MARIF COLLEGES ) in 6 different cities of Turkey : Istanbul,İzmir,Eskişehir,Diyarbakır,Konya and Samsun

One of these students was İbrahim Eriş ,who became many years after, the director of the Brazilian Central Bank. He was one of the key figures in the war against the fatal hyperinflation in Brazil during 1990-91.He is

still a highly respected economist.

Our teachers were and are always precious persons and the school maintained a successful education with these experienced academicians.

But one of them was particular. He was an American who spent an important part of his life

in our school to educate young Turkish people.

His name was Mr.Carl Tobey

In 1975 the name “MARIF College” was changed as “Anatolian High School” for all similar schools in Turkey.
