A novel compound, called chloropolysporin, has antibiotic properties and would appear to be a member of the class of glycopeptide antibiotics containing chlorine. It may be produced by cul- tivating a suitable strain of microorganism of the genus Micropolyspora, especially Micro- polyspora sp. SANK 60983 (FERM BP-538). It may be combined with conventional pharma- ceutically acceptable carriers or diluents for therapeutic use or incorporated into edible ex- cipients, such as feed or water, for use as a growth-promoting agent, especially for farm animals.

A process of preparing a vaccine capable of pro- tecting poultry against avian proventriculitis which comprises: separating proventriculitis reovirus from reovirus-carrying tissue of a poultry animal diseased with proventriculitis; in- oculating a cell culture capable of sustaining the growth and replication of the reovirus; extra- cting the virus from cellular and nonviral com- ponents, and rendering the reovirus into a form suitable for administration to poultry, yields a vaccine and an immunization method.

Novel quinazolino- 1,4-benzodiazepin-5,13- dione derivatives, which are soluble in aqueous media and which have been found to be an- tagonists of the function of cholecystokinins (CCK), to the preparation of these compounds from compounds prepared by aerobic fermenta- tion of certain Aspergillus alliaceus strains, and to the use of these compounds to antagonize the function of CCK, which antagonism is useful, e.g., for the treatment and prevention of dis- orders of the gastrointestinal, central nervous and appetite-regulatory systems of mammals, especially of humans.
