• Studio Musical Theater Series •Musicals Redux: The Human ComedyMusic by Galt MacDermotBook and lyrics by William DumaresqBased on a story by William SaroyanAubrey Berg, directorAnthony De Angelis, musical directorBriefly seen on Broadway in 1984, The Human Comedy is a coming-of-age tale about young Homer Macauley, a telegram messenger who is exposed to the sorrows and joys experienced by his family and the residents of his small California town during World War II. Through-composed, the musical is reminiscent of American folk-operas like Porgy and Bess and includes elements of 1940s swing, gospel, pop, folk and show tunes.

Similar to the “Lost Musicals” produced in London and New York’s “Encores” series, Musicals Redux revives a forgotten American musical each year.Location: Cohen Family Studio TheaterAdmission: Admission is free, but reservations are required.
