Thisprofilewillgiveyouanideaofthequalities,skills,andqualificationsourtranslatorsneed,andwhatchallengestheyface.

Itisnotanofficiallistofrequirementsforaparticularposition.Forthat,youwillneedtorefertothecompetitionnotice,callforexpressionofinterestorcallfortenderwhenyouapply.AllcompetitionsareorganisedandpublishedbytheEuropeanPersonnelSelectionOffice(EPSO),thebodyresponsibleforselectingstaffforallEUinstitutions.

YourprofileCommissiontranslatorsarerequiredtotranslatepolitical,legalandadministrativetexts,andwebtextsusuallyintotheirmainlanguage.ThesearefrequentlycomplexandencompassalltheEuropeanUnion'sareasofactivity(economic,financial,scientific,technical,etc.).

WearelookingforhighcalibregraduatesincludingpeoplewithsciencedegreesornonlanguageartsdegreesrelevanttoEUpolicies.

Basicrequirementsanabilitytograspvariedandcomplexissues,reactswiftlytochangingcircumstances,manageinformationandcommunicateeffectivelyinitiative,imagination,andintellectualcuriosityandmotivationacapacitytoworkconsistentlyandunderpressureindependentlyandaspartofateamandtofitintoamulticulturalworkingenvironmentanabilitytomaintaintheselfdisciplinerequiredtoworkinalargepublicserviceorganisation.

Translationskillsacapacitytounderstandtextsinthesourcelanguageandtorenderthemcorrectlyinthetargetlanguage,usingastyleandregisterappropriatetothepurposeofthetextacapacitytoresearchtopicsandterminologyquicklyandefficientlyinbothsourcelanguageandtargetlanguages.acapacitytomastercomputerassistedtranslationandterminologytools,aswellasstandardofficeautomationsoftware.
