2. Building your Endowment

• Who’s job is it?• Is it important? (Do we have to?)• Do we have the right staff in place?• Do we have the right volunteers in place?

2. 4-H Keystone Society• Gift Level– an annual contribution of at least $2500 or a five year

pledge of $500 + annually– $42 per month for 60 months

• Recognition– 4-H Keystone Society pin – 4-H Keystone Society window cling – Invitations to 4-H stewardship events– Volunteers who recruit new 4-H Keystone Society

members will be recognized– Local stewardship will differ by county

2. Goal Setting

Minimum: $5000 annually for 5 years

• 10 donors @ $500/year

• 8 donors @ $500-$1000/year

• Convene a volunteer development committee

• Set activity goals/expectations• Build your donor prospect list• Create strategies and

responsibilities• Hit the pavement!

4-H ROBOTICS4-H Science

Establishing Club• 4-H Educator and Leaders must participate in

curriculum training• Training includes: content, recruitment,

sustainability (grant, fundraising, corporate sponsorship), networking

• All Robotics clubs must participate in 4-H Science pre/post survey

4-H Robotics• Program needs– Dependent on goals– Junk Drawer Curriculum is best combined with

Platform and Virtual Curriculum– Platform and Virtual Curriculum need Computers

and platform kits (We recommend Lego)

Computers and Software• Penn State Policy is evolving• Computers at this time are owned by the 4-H

program and must be monitored and managed by 4-H Educator in conjunction with 4-H volunteer

• Software licensing owned by 4-H program and use must be monitored/managed in accordance with legal software requirements

Competitions• Nice addition, but not required• Many options available, FIRST program most

closely matches the chosen curriculum• Many have contracts, must be vetted through

PSU policy procedures• Before committing, team must have eyes

wide open on costs and expectations• Fundraising must be monitored closely by

educator and leader (policy compliant)

Current State Initiatives• Jcp (this will be the final year for this)• Lockheed Martin

Critical Funding Decisions• PA Robotics Network (currently: Armstrong,

Berks, Bucks, Butler, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Elk-Cameron, Franklin, Jefferson, Philadelphia, Washington, Westmoreland, Venango

• 12 competitive teams (FRC and FLL)• Must work with Development Office on

advanced funding options including grants and donors

4. Mark your calendars for 2013Sessions are held every six weeks on Thursdays from 8:15am to 9:30am

• August 29, 2013• October 10, 2013• November 21, 2013
