o TherewasgreatanticipationsurroundingthebuildingofthetempleinJerusalem.Ittooksevenyearstocompleteit,butthedreamofitsconstructionstartedfurtherback.ItwasnotSolomon’sdream,butDavid’stobuilda“HousefortheLord.”However,evenbeforethat,Israelasawholehadlongedtobeinthepromisedland.TheirhistoryofwanderinginthedeserthadrequiredthetabernaclebeamobilehomefortheArkoftheCovenantandrepresentationofGod’spresencewithHispeople.NowtheArkwasbroughttoapermanentplacewithgreatceremonyandcelebration.

o 1Kings8:54‐61o Solomon,inthisbenedictiontohisprayeroverIsrael,recognizedandrememberedGod’sfaithfulnesstohispeople.

HeprayedforGod’scontinuedpresenceandrecognizedtheimportanceandeffectsofHispresence.(v.57‐59)HeprayedthatallpeopleseverywherewouldknowtheoneandonlyGod.(v.60)HeprayedthatIsraelwouldremainfaithfultotheLordforever.(v.61)

o Itisclear,however,thatthecompletionofthetempleisnotthecompletionofGod’srequirements.ItisreallyonlysettingthestageforwhatGodtrulydesiresandrequiresofHispeople‐exclusiveworship.

These suggestionswere created by the age‐groupministry leaders as away to help parents better communicate thebiblical truths discussed in the Family Worship Guide. These activities and questions can replace or serve as asupplementtothequestionsunderthe“Read”sectiononPage1.RememberthatthesesuggestionsareintendedtohelpparentsfacilitateGod‐centereddiscussionswiththeirchildren.Parentsshouldprayerfullyusethesesuggestions,andanyothermeansnecessary,tohelptheirchildrendiscoverthetruthsofGod’swordandworshipHimtogether.

Preschool(Birth‐Kindergarten)o Beginbyhavingyourchildrensitjustasyouwouldduringyourfamilyworshiptimetogether.Next,explaintothem

whatworshipis.TellyourchildthatworshippingGodcanincludepraying,readingGod'sWordwithanopenheart,singing,participatingintheLord’sSupper,andservingothersinHisname.Itisnotlimitedtojustoneactbutisdoneproperlywhenyourheartandattitudeareintherightplace.

o Oftentimeswegotothechurchcampustoworshipwithothers,butwedon’tjustworshipatthechurchbuilding.WherecanweworshipGod?Whereverweare!WecanworshipGodinthecar,athome,atthepark,etc.TheBibletellsusthatGoddesiresustoworshipHimwithourwholeheartallthetime.Heismightyanddeservesourpraise.

o ShowyourchildexamplesofhowyouworshipGodthroughouttheweek.PointtheseexamplesoutandremindthemthattheycanworshipGodinmanydifferentwayswherevertheyare.
