Organization (NGO) founded in 1996 with a mission of improving lives through
meaningful development programs as defined by the people in broad participatory

process of nominating the Koogere Oral Tradition_and do hereby support that
Tradition gets inscribed as one of the cultural elements highly treasured by people
in Busongora and others who treasure the element.
As an organization, we actively participated in the mobilization of the people for
the nomination by sponsoring radio programs, providing a vehicle and fuel for
transportation needs and 300,000 Ug Shs contribution to the planning of the
festival ceremony on March 23,2012 and March 24,2012.

The Centre of African Christian Studies for Advancement (CACISA) is a Non Governmental
Organization (NGO) founded in 2004 with a mission to promote integration of values within the African
Christian perspective. The organization advances use of African values, wisdom, skills and heritage for
holistic development.
As a cultural organization we actively participated in the nomination process ofthe 'Koogere
Tradition' and we have given free, prior and informed consent for the tradition to be inscribed on the
UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding. We contributed a researcher
to help with the collection of detailed information. We also contributed the organization vehicle to help
in the mobilization of the concerned communities and in the collection of information. We took part in

We the elders of Tooro have actively participated in the process of
nominating the Koogere Oral Tradition. We have given free, prior and informed
consent for the tradition to be inscribed on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural
heritage in need of urgent safeguarding. As elders in Tooro we naturally hold the
custodianship of culture and the commitment to cause the preservation of our
intangible heritage for our own benefit and for the benefit of posterity.
We regularly meet to consider topical cultural issues in order to make the
right choices for the best practices in the preservation of our cultural heritage. We
hold weekly talk- shows on a local Radio Station to disseminate the results of our
discussions.
We are a key component of the Kabarole Research and Resource Centre, a
local Non-Governmental Organization which spearheads development programs.
We have been influential in the starting of a local community University
(Mountains of the Moon University) and we are committed to helping design the
program for the Centre of African Cultural Development Studies at the University.
We hold the crucial elderly advisory role on a spectrum of social issues.
As elders of Tooro we do support the nomination of the Koogere Oral
Tradition with the endorsement by our names and signatures on this 31st day of

- The committee shall be called "Koogere Oral tradition NominationCommittee" elected by consultative meetings, coordinated by EngabuZa Tooro and its member organization
- The committee shall initiate plan and executive Koogere OralTradition Nomination activities within the scope of preparing acomplete nomination dossier according to the 2003 UNESCOconversation on safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage and itsoperating directives.
- The committee will be technically guided by Engabu Za Tooro andaccountable to the people who use the element
- The committee will be the supreme authority on the matters ofKoogere Oral Tradition Nomination and accountable to the peoplewho use the element for any adaptations on the cultural practices andmanifestations.
- The committee shall handover responsibility for follow-up withUNESCO and consolidation of nomination outputs and results toEngabu Za Tooro - the main facilitating institution
- The committee shall dissolve itself after successful submission ofthenomination dossier to UNESCO and approving the report of thenomination exercise by 15th April 2012
