Accreditation BasicsAccrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) evaluates and accredits Junior Colleges

Accreditation allows our students to receive federal financial aid dollars

ACCJCACCJC is comprised of educators and administrators

ACCJC has established four major accreditation standards

Under those four standards are 14 subsections

We demonstrate compliance via a written self report…the Institution Self-Evaluation Report (ISER)

StandardsStandard I: Mission, Academic Quality, and Institutional Effectiveness and Integrity

Standard II: Student Learning Programs and Support Services

Standard III: Resources

Standard IV: Leadership and Governance

ISERThe ISER explains how we meet the 4 standards and all subsections of each standard.

The ISER also contains a quality focus essay (QFE) describing goals.

ACCJC has our ISER, and peer reviewers are prepping for a site visit.

Site VisitOctober 1-4th peer reviewers will be on campus, in our classrooms and in our committee meetings.

They will talk with administrators, faculty, classified personnel, and students.

They will review all of our documents and data.

They will sit in our classes and will talk with committees.

Facilities & Sustainability Committee Charge

To review and provide recommendations for new and improved facilities and infrastructures, to

enhance current and future learning environments as well as a responsibility to maintain,

sustain and renew our institution’s fiscal, human and environmental resources for all current

and future students, community, faculty, and staff to the College Council and Academic Senate.

Standard III.B: Physical Resources Language“In recognition that a supportive learning environment needs safe and sufficient physical resources, BC assures safe physical resourcesin support of our mission via several avenues: around-the-clock public safety service, updating security and safety features of buildings and other physical resources, and getting input from employees and students on maintenance needs.”

Standard III.B: Physical ResourcesBakersfield College’s commitment to the maintenance and upgrade of physical resources could not be clearer: the college has secured two bonds, with the most recent bond bringing over $415 million directly to BC for facilities and infrastructure upgrades.

Our Facilities & Sustainability Committee tracks and assesses the ongoing short- and long-range capital plans detailed in our Facilities & Technology Strategic Direction and Facilities Master Plan.

Standard III.B: Physical ResourcesOur Facilities & Sustainability Committee tracks and assesses the ongoing short- and long-range capital plans detailed in our Facilities & Technology Strategic Direction and Facilities Master Plan.

Standard III.B: Physical ResourcesStandard: Are our physical resources safe and do we have sufficient physical resources?Response: We have a scheduled maintenance plan and with the help of Measure J we are meeting the space needs for future generations. Additionally, via the Program Review process additional resources are requested and prioritized.

Standard III.B: Physical ResourcesStandard: Do we upgrade and maintain our physical resources?

Response: Yes! Each year we spend thousands of dollar on scheduled maintenance of existing buildings. Additional needs are also requested through the Program Review Process and those needs are met as money allows.

Response: Yes, we just completed our Facilities Master Plan which was developed from the input of the Facilities and Sustainability Committee and other ad-hoc groups around campus.

Response: Yes, built into the Facilities Master Plan is the analysis of Total Cost of Ownership.

Peer reviewers will be at BC October 1-4th and will talk with administrators, faculty, classified personnel, and students

Peer reviewers will be talking with committee leaders and members about the ISER
