cient dawn to dusk lights. Brett Lynn wants to build a fire ring and safe area near the Adirondack shelter. Evan Studer wants to rebuild the
stairs on the cabin trail with safer, more permanent stairs and a railing. More details will come from the Scouts as they work on their pro-
jects.
At 1212 PM, meeting called to order in Nikki’s absence by President-Elect Bill.
Secretary’s report – Approved as printed by Danielle, second by Ron and passed.

give $100 to the Circle K Outreach (same as last year), second by Steve and passed. We will revisit deciding what to give to the Twining Park
shelter later this year.
Committee Reports – Interclubs, Human and Spiritual Growth, Nominations, Sponsored Youth, YCPO and Scholarships -- had no report.
Programs- Bill has filled programs thru to August 11th. The group voted to reschedule our program for 13th and count members at the meeting
site and members attending Stub Kubly’s funeral as attending the meeting. Stub died last weekend at the age of 97 after being a club member
for 65 ½ years.
Membership and Education: Danielle proposed RoAnn Warden for membership, second by Ron and passed.
House- We need to establish a functioning house committee for the coming year. Jim suggested 4-8 persons.
Youth Service/Youth Cabin—The Youth Cabin needs a new roof! We are seeking bids up to the next board meeting. Alan proposed we approve
all 3 scout projects, Nathan $375, Brett $100 and Evan $500. Each scout will be asked for a budget and timeline before starting their project.
An itemized bill and report on the project following completion and a presentation about the completed project to the club following completion.
Cabin keys are still at Dave Babler’s office but Dave Mosher has a copy so he can water the new Oak tree his family planted out there.

Farm Tech Days July 19-21 George Vernon has passed out the tickets and schedules. Others may still volunteer, just call George.
Cheese Days- our space has been moved to the street. We have been approved for putting holes in the street to secure the tent. We will look
at weights for holding it down. Ideas for a quieter generator have been explored. It was suggested we look at a temporary electrical connec-
tion. Park and Rec has the lot adjacent.

Dementia Care Specialist Corner By: Whitney Thompson, MPH, CHES
Dementia Care Specialist for the ADRC of SW WI (Grant, Green, Iowa, & Lafayette Counties)
What is Dementia?
Dementia is a general term describing a set of symptoms that can be present in many different
health conditions. The symptoms are severe enough to interfere with an individual’s daily liv-
ing. They include changes in abilities related to:
Memory
Communication and Language
Focus and Attention Span
Reasoning and Judgment
Visual Perception
There are many different conditions and diseases that can cause dementia. Alzheimer’s dis-
ease is the most common cause. It is an irreversible and progressive disease of the brain.
One of the most common early symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease is having trouble with short
-term memory, which causes difficulty in remembering newly learned information such as
appointments or recent conversations. As the disease progresses, issues with communication,
planning, judgment, mood, behavior, and confusion about time and place can occur.
Take note of the picture in this article from alz.org. The healthy brain is on your left and the
brain with Alzheimer’s disease is on your right. The brain with Alzheimer’s is smaller and
shrunken compared to the healthy brain. Dementia, including Alzheimer’s results because of
damage and physical changes to the brain. These physical changes cause the symptoms that
we see in individuals with dementia. We need to show and compassion and support to indi-
viduals with dementia.
If you would like more information about the supports, resources, and education available re-
lated to dementia, contact your local Aging & Disability Resource Center in Green County to
get connected to the Dementia Care Specialist by calling 608-328-9499.
Know you are not alone!
