Sherk Aquatics and Fitness Centre was built in 1985 and the twin pad Highbury Canco Arena and Unico Arena were adjoined to the fitness centre in 2000 to form a 179,000 square foot facility, known as the Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex (LKRC).

• Program fees are as listed. Program fees have already been pro-rated to take into consideration classes that fall on statutory holidays or for special event rentals.
• If you cannot be accommodated in any of your selections, you can request to be placed on a waiting list. Participants cannot be registered in one class and on a waiting list for another class. Individuals on a waiting list will be contacted only if a space becomes available, or if a class has been added.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
CHILDREN’S FITNESS TAX CREDIT• The Children’s Fitness Tax Credit allows a non
refundable tax credit on eligible amounts of up to $500 paid by parents to register a child (under the age of 16) in an eligible program of physical activity.
• There are additional provisions for children eligible for the Disability Tax Credit. In this case, there is a separate $500 non-refundable tax credit for participants with disabilities (under the age of 18).
• Visit their website at fin.gc.ca for more information on the Children’s Fitness Tax Credit, the Disability Tax Credit and for details regarding eligible programs.

General Membership Information
PATHWAY TO POTENTIAL (P2P) (ages 17 years and under)
Families facing financial difficulties may be eligible for funding to take part in recreation programs. P2P makes funds available to register eligible youth ages 17 years and under in one recreation program at the LKRC every 10 week session including Complex Day Camps, Red Cross Swim Lessons and Advanced Aquatic Leadership Courses such as Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, National Lifeguard and Red Cross Swim Instructors Course. In addition, there are some minor sport organizations who partner with the LKRC and eligible youth who qualify can register for one program per season under the P2P program. Upon verification of eligibility by the LKRC, a Voucher is issued to allow registration with the partners below during their specific registration dates. Eligible programs include:
• Leamington Minor Baseball• Leamington Minor Soccer• Leamington Skating Club• The Nancy Pattison Dance School• Ki Moo Gwan School of Tae Kwon Do• Southpoint Minor Hockey
Available to Essex County residents only.
How to Apply
Registration must be done in person in the LKRC Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm only.
You must bring your Canada Child Tax Benefit Notice or Notice of Assessment from Revenue Canada with you to apply, as P2P is based on annual income and can be determined through these forms.
Our staff will look for four requirements on the form:
• The form must be for the current year.• “National Child Benefit” (NCB) must be clearly listed on the form. • The names of the children registering must be listed on the
form. You must be the legal guardian of the children to qualify.• The name and address listed on the form must be your valid
contact information as an Essex County resident.
The registrant is responsible to pay 10% of the program cost at the time of registration.Funding for P2P is limited and based on a first come, first serve basis.

CANADIAN TIRE JUMPSTART FUNDING (ages 4-18 years)
Canadian Tire believes that all children should have the opportunity to run, skate, play and grow!
The Canadian Tire JumpStart program is a community-based charitable program from the Canadian Tire Foundation for families that assists disadvantaged families (where such determination is based on meeting established eligibility criteria) in getting their children aged 4-18 years involved in sports and recreation.
This program offers:
1. A free 10 visit Skate/Swim/Gym Pass to youth 4-13 years of age or a FREE 10 visit Adult FLEX Pass for ages 14-18 years at the Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex PLUS, One (1) free program registration for programs (eg. Day Camp, Swim Lessons, Karate, Youth Indoor Soccer, Youth Basketball, Floor Hockey, etc.) at the LKRC twice per year for youth 4-13 years of age
OR2.
• Southpoint Minor Hockey ($200.00 maximum)• Leamington Skating Club ($200.00 maximum)• Leamington Minor Baseball ($135.00 maximum)• Leamington Minor Soccer ($80.00 maximum)• Ki Moo Gwan School of Tae Kwon Do ($150.00 maximum)• Nancy Pattison Dance School ($200.00 maximum)

LOCKER & CHANGEROOM INFORMATION Family Change Room, Female Locker Room, Male Locker Room • Children 6 years of age or older are asked to use the appropriate gender dressing room or Family Change Room accompanied by an adult 14 years of age or older. • Children under 6 years may use any dressing room, accompanied by an adult 14 years of age or older. • Please do not bring valuables into the LKRC. Take your belongings home with you each day (unless you have rented a locker). Staff will remove unregistered locks and their contents.
CREDITS ON ACCOUNTS• Credits applied to accounts will remain as credits for 12
months. These credits can be applied to any program offered at the LKRC.
• Credit will only be provided if the facility is unavailable for more than 2 weeks.
GENERAL POLICIES
REFUND POLICYRefunds will be processed upon written request for facility bookings, program registrations and memberships in accordance with the following policy:
• A full refund will be made upon cancellation of a class or activity by the Municipality of Leamington. Refunds will not be possible in the event of an unexpected situation such as inclement weather, power failure, building evacuation, mechanical difficulties, or a pool fouling. In the event of a pool fouling, every effort will be made to teach classes on deck.
• The Municipality of Leamington reserves the right to close the facility for maintenance or repairs.
• Requests for Refunds or Letters of Credit must be received in writing (please attach your receipt) prior to the 3rd class of the session OR before the expiry date of a membership. Refunds and credits are calculated based on the date the Refund/Credit Request Form is submitted for consideration and the amount refunded will be prorated based on classes attended or time already used.
• A Doctor’s note must accompany any request for a refund.
• Refunds for programs will be charged an Administration Fee of $15.
• Refunds for memberships will be charged an Administration Fee of $25.
• Please allow 2-3 weeks for the processing of refunds.• “Make-up classes” are not available for missed classes.• Non-attendance and notification to an instructor does
not constitute a notice of withdrawal.
The Municipality of Leamington reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment, so please register early.

APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOURS POLICYThe LKRC exists to provide residents with opportunities to participate in sport and other recreational activities in a safe and positive environment. The Municipality of Leamington will not tolerate indecency, violence or vandalism in its programs, facilities or properties, and will take the appropriate action where necessary to deal with these incidents. PHOTOGRAPHY POLICYPatrons wishing to use video cameras or other photographic devices, including camera phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs), in any registered or supervised program must receive permission from staff before filming.The use of all cell phones and PDAs, or any devices designed to take photographs, is prohibited in all change rooms, washrooms, and weight room areas in all Municipality of Leamington facilities.
PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY – MEDIA & ADVERTISINGBy participating in public events held at the LKRC/or in conjunction with the Department of Recreation, all participants grant the Municipality of Leamington the right to print, publish, broadcast, and use photographs in any manner deemed appropriate. This usage includes, but is not limited to, the World Wide Web and all other advertising materials. Participant’s photo/name could be used for public information without consideration or compensation.
EMAIL CONSENT POLICYBy providing your email address to the Municipality, you consent to receiving emails about recreation and marina programs and events, any service disruptions, closures, surveys etc.

BABYSITTING: RED CROSSCERTIFICATION COURSE (11-15 YEARS)The Red Cross Babysitting Course provides general first aid and care giving skills. Youth learn how to provide babysitting care for younger children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers youth the training to promote themselves as a babysitter to prospective parents.

The Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex is committed to providing quality sport and recreation programs for children that promote healthy growth and development. Our programs are designed to be age appropriate, safe and fun. To ensure activities are of the highest quality, we incorporate the HIGH FIVE principles of healthy child development into our Day Camp programs.
Registration should be made in advance for all Campers. 2nd Child Rate applies to the second child or additional children within one family. Please note that registrations made on the day of the program are subject to an additional $10.00 fee per child.
Healthy lunches are available for purchase during our Summer Day Camp at a cost of $6.00. Lunches must be prepaid no later than 5:00 PM the day before.

KINDERNASTICSThis recreational gymnastics program introduces gym equipment and physical activity with activities such as rolling, balancing, sliding, jumping and tumbling in an exciting environment. Parents are required to participate to assist with their child in the Parent & Tot program only. Class Description
Lane Swim Lanes are set up for continuous swimming. Circle swimming is required when there are three or more people in the lane. An area is available for exercise.
55+ Lane and Leisure Swim Reserved for participants 55 years of age and older. Lanes are set up for continuous swimming. Circle swimming is required when there are three or more people in the lane. An area is available for exercise.
Adult Swim Participants must be 14 years of age or older. Lanes are set up for continuous swimming. Circle swimming is required when there are three or more people in the lane. An area is available for exercise.
3 Adult Lanes Participants must be 14 years of age or older. Three lanes are set up for continuous swimming.
Open Swim Recreation swim for all ages. Within Arms Reach policy applies. One lane available.
Family Swim Children of all ages must be accompanied in the water with an adult at all times. Within Arms Reach policy applies.
Tot Pool A small shallow pool for preschoolers and young children with an adult. This pool is detached from the main pools.
Leisure Pool A warmer pool attached to the main pool perfect for young children and adults looking for warmer water for stretching and range-of-motion activities.
Aqua Therapy Focus on range-of-motion, stretching and low impact exercises.
Aqua Therapy Plus All the benefits of Aqua Therapy with a higher level of intensity.
Aqua Fit An invigorating cardio and strength workout in the water.
Deep Water Cardio A continuous high intensity water workout.
Aqua Yoga Uses yoga poses adapted to shallow water to reduce pain and improve balance.

Within Arms ReachChildren 7 years of age and under must be accompanied in the water and be within arms reach of a parent or guardian 14 years of age or older. The ratio of children 7 years and under per adult is 3 to 1.
Board of Health Regulations • All swimmers must shower before entering the pool. • No street shoes allowed on the pool deck.
Medical Conditions Participants with serious medical conditions (especially seizure disorders) should be accompanied by another person knowledgeable of their condition. A support person may need to be in the water to ensure the swimmer’s safety.
Safe Swimming • Respect Aquatic Staff and other swimmers.• Follow the pool rules – they are there for your safety.• Let the lifeguards know if you have a question
or need first aid.• Use appropriate language at all times
Easy Steps to Successful Swim LessonsIntroduce new swimmers to the pool prior to their first swim lesson if possible. By attending a Family Swim or Open Swim, your child can experience the pool area in a more relaxed atmosphere. Swim lessons are not designed for everyone to complete each level every time they register. Remember, once you know a skill, you can still get better, faster, stronger! Swim Instructor’s evaluations are based on criteria passed down from the Red Cross and Lifesaving Society to ensure swimmer safety and success.
