Student pagenote: if a box denying access pops up, click the red X to close it

Reason: Click arrow and scroll down – LOTS of options

Assign to: When in doubt, choose “Coordinator, Central” and let Retention figure it out; other options are listed

Interested Parties: Includes specific names in Retention, Career Services, Enrollment, Dean, and others

Robert has not turned in assignments – he has expressed that his job playing Dunker is making it difficult for him to meet deadlines.

Details: choose to check or not check these as is appropriate for your student/situation. One size does NOT fit all; do your best to choose the best options for you and your student.

Sharing Options: Choose “Team” if the student is part of a specific student cohort that has a specialized team (Athletics, Disabilities, etc.)

Sharing Options: “Private” is for the Retention Coordinator’s eyes and yours only. Is the issue at hand sensitive?Sharing Options: “Public” allows other instructors and the Academic Advisor to see the Referral – very useful to help us to know if a student is having similar problems in multiple courses.

What happens next? Retention Specialists make contact

with student (within 48 hours of Referral)

“Closed” message to you means that contact with student has been initiated (“Closed” means “Open”!)

You will be copied on email and/or other correspondence

Be aware: Some issues are sensitive, so you

may not be able to be informed of all details of Retention or other intervention activities

In Referrals, provide as much fact-based information as possible.

FERPA compliance throughout process.
