Course preference codes and application forms are available from our website www.tafensw.edu.au Late applications will always be accepted if places and resources are available. We encourage you to speak with the Customer Service staff at the college about your course interests.
High demand courses requiring applications are competitive and filling out an application form does not guarantee you a place in the course. You will be notified by mail regarding the outcome of your application in December 2008. Please attach copies of relevant information that may assist your application e.g. support letter from employer, copy of School Certificate, HSC or other qualifications.

Attend the Enrolment Session on Thursday, 29 January OR Friday, 30 January 2009 between 11am -7pm,
Mount Druitt College, Corner Mount Street and North Parade, MOUNT DRUITT. Please note that enrolments will continue after these dates if vacancies still exist.
From 2009, general enrolment may take place at Enrolment Information Sessions. At these sessions, you will be able to receive friendly and helpful enrolment services from TAFE NSW. You will be able to:
talk to teachers about what you will learn in the course and what the vocational outcomes are ask for advice about entry skill levels needed to succeed find out about our support services discuss and apply for Recognition of your previous learning or experience ask any other questions you need to know fill in your enrolment form, ENROL and PAY.
Make sure you find out when the Enrolment Information Session (if applicable) for your course is to be held. The scheduled dates and times will be published on our website or you can contact the college. Bring along all the documents or evidence you have been asked for, as well as correct payment. Try not to miss the Enrolment Information Session, but if you do, contact the college as places may still be available.
If you are unsure of which course to choose, you can make an appointment with the College Counsellor at the college of your choice who can help you with career planning and course selection on 131 870.

People in receipt of some Centrelink benefits or other Commonwealth allowances may be eligible for a concession fee. If you receive the Disability Support Pension or are a Client of a Teacher/Consultant for Students with a Disability, you are eligible for one individual fee exemption per calendar year. For any subsequent enrolments in the same year, you will be able to enrol for the concession fee. You need to provide proof of your Centrelink status at the time of enrolment (e.g. pension card or a letter from Centrelink, which is less than one month old). No cash payments will be accepted. Payments may be made by EFTPOS, Cheque, made payable to TAFE NSW, Credit Card (MasterCard, or Visa) or Money order, made payable to TAFE NSW. Text books and materials may be required at additional cost. Temporary Visa Holders and International Students have to pay the TAFE NSW Fee and tuition fees. We advise you to speak with the Temporary Visa Holder Coordinator in Block A, Administration before you enrol.

EXEMPTIONS
If you receive the Disability Support Pension or are a Client of a Teacher/Consultant for Students with a Disability, you are eligible for one individual fee exemption per calendar year. For any subsequent enrolments in the same year, you will be able to enrol for the concession fee. You need to provide proof of your Centrelink status at the time of enrolment (e.g. pension card or a letter from Centrelink, which is less than one month old).
REFUNDS
Refund of the TAFE NSW fee may be given in the following exceptional circumstances:
1. Students who have overpaid the TAFE NSW fee. 2. Students enrolled in a course that has been cancelled by the college or institute. 3. The student pays but receives Youth Allowance or Austudy commencing within two weeks of the date of enrolment or the date of first attendance at class. 4. Within the first three teaching weeks, the student is offered and accepts a place in a course at university or at the same/another TAFE NSW college. 5. The student will enrol in a course only to repeat a failed module/unit but is then granted a pass in that module/unit by an Assessment Review Committee. 6. The student advised the college/campus, before classes commence, that they are withdrawing from the course, this is applicable both semesters. 7. The delegate is of the opinion that the applicant/student would be unreasonably disadvantaged if not granted a refund. For example, a student who meets with a serious misadventure and is unable to continue his/her enrolment. 8. An apprentice or trainee who has paid the full TAFE NSW fee upfront and subsequently provided the college formal evidence of their Apprenticeship/Traineeship can be refunded the balance of their recalculated payment. Note: (Re – No 8.)This refund is available for Certificate III, IV and Diploma courses only.

STUDENT ASSOCIATION
Student Association – for students wishing to join the association, it will cost $20 (including GST). The Student Association Membership is valid for 1 calendar year. For further information regarding the Student Association, please see page 16.
TEMPORARY VISA HOLDERS
If you are a TEMPORARY VISA HOLDER and eligible to study, you will have to pay a tuition fee, as well as the TAFE NSW fee and other charges that may be applicable to your course. Please see the Team Coordinator Customer Service or Manager College Operations at the College Administration Office.
COUNSELLORS AND CAREERS ADVISORS
Services are available for enrolled and prospective students. One of the services we offer is to assist people to make the best of their educational opportunities, both in TAFE and elsewhere. Support is available for career planning, vocational pathways, choosing the right course etc. For an appointment, telephone the Counselling Unit on (02) 9208 6383.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
TAFE NSW recognises skills and knowledge you have gained through previous studies, work and/or life experience. Recognition means that any learning you already have which is relevant to the module/units in your current course may exempt you from those module/units.
If you think you are entitled to recognition, discuss RPL with the Enrolling Officer or your teacher after you start your course and have copies of certificates, references, work samples or any other documentation you feel may assist with this process.
TAFECard
A smart card containing your photograph, name, student number and various applications including Library membership, College Association, secure parking access/classroom access (where available), travel concession and an electronic purse for on campus purchases (where available) e.g. parking, photocopiers on campus, access computers.
