What does perceived obsolescence mean?

Perceived obsolescence is a consumer’s perspective, which revolves around fashion and trends.

Perceived obsolescence is designing a product or part of a product to only last a certain amount of time.

Iphone 5 or 4.Ipad 3 or 2. Samsung Galaxy S4 or

S3.Computers.Windows 8 or 7.Etc.

Fashion

One night dress.

The fashion changes faster and faster.

Bought new clothes to remain “cool”.

What are the Reasons?

Culture.

Power.

Sustainability.

Individual's social perception.

They need of group acceptance.

Some consumers has a stress and a constant feeling of dissatisfaction and unhappiness.

Questions before you buy somethingAre the new features being offered

something I really need or even want at this time?

Why do I really want to throw out the old and bring in the new – is it just vanity?

How long before I’m going to want to upgrade/change again?

Is the Next Big Thing really that good or is it just hype?
