Construction Progress

A significant milestone has been reached in the construction with the

completion of stage 3a of the redevelopment project. Witness testing and

training was completed in March and the building (levels 3– 7) handed over to

LBH in April 2016. Operational commissioning of the new departments has

commenced and access to these areas remains restricted. Staff tours of the new

building will be arranged within the next two weeks and all staff will be advised

of the same.

Australian Government contributing $60 million and the State providing $20 million.

New Theatre Floor

Stage 3b1

Stage 3b1 is the construction of the shell and core for levels 8 - 12 and

the construction of a Helicopter Landing Site (HLS) on levels 13 & 14.

Works are also progressing on completing construction of the front

entrance forecourt area outside the renal unit, the ED ambulance bay and

the extended vehicle drop off zone.

Multi Level Car Park

Construction of the new car park is nearing completion with all floor slabs and on grade car park works completed. Lighting and street signage installed and façade works ongoing.

Interesting Facts

In construction so far:

9150 cubic metres of concrete has been poured which equates to

approximately 91.5km’s of footpath.

715 tonnes of steel reinforcement have been laid to date which equates to

approximately 477 Holden Commodores.

175 tonne of structural steel installed to date. Total structural for the

project is 100 tonnes.

To end of the month, 25,050 man hours with cumulative total of 461,528

man hours for the project to date.
